Zhang Jingjiang was born in 1877 in Huzhou, Zhejiang Province, a Jiangnan silk merchant giant family, his ancestors were famous rich merchants for several generations, by the time of his father's generation, the Zhang family has accumulated a lot of wealth, nanxun Zhang family assets are quite large, is one of the "four elephants" in Nanxun. A very successful businessman, he was the first Chinese to open a trading house in France, and the General Transport Company in Paris sold tea, satin, carpets, lacquerware, antiques, calligraphy and paintings from China, "the profit is too great to be estimated."
In 1905, Zhang Jingjiang and Sun Yat-sen met on a steamship to France, and then became lifelong friends, and had been raising funds for Sun Yat-sen's revolutionary cause, Zhang Jingjiang joined the League, and then actively introduced the rich people of Nanxun, Zhejiang Province, to join the revolutionary camp.
It is worth mentioning that Zhang Jingjiang also had a close relationship with the later president of the Republic of China, Chiang Kai-shek, who often borrowed money from chiang kai-shek when he was poor in the early years, and it is said that today's Nanjing Municipal Archives still has Chiang Kai-shek's IOUs, which are more than an inch thick. Because of Zhang Jingjiang's great help, after Chiang Kai-shek was in power, he made Zhang Jingjiang the chairman of the Kuomintang Central Political Conference and the acting chairman of the National Government, with a very high status and respect, and he was known as one of the four elders of the Kuomintang.
