Orphans in a troubled world
Ren Changlun was born in 1921, in the era of war, he was born in Huang County, Shandong. Because of his poor family, his childhood was raised in bitter water. When he was 6 years old, the Kuomintang came to arrest Zhuang Ding, and his father was also on the list. However, his father's resolute disobedience led to severe beatings by the officers, and eventually died of his wounds, and his mother was furious and died soon after. Ren Changlun suddenly became an orphan, or his uncle brought him up.
At the age of 14, he was reluctant to let his uncle's family save money for him to go to school, so he dropped out of school to work as a temporary worker to help his uncle bear the burden of life. His hometown, Sun Huzhuang, was once the place where the Boxers operated. As he grew older, especially after a period of exploitation and oppression, he deepened his hatred for the forces of evil and sympathy for his suffering compatriots, and developed a character of wit and courage.
Heroes from ancient times out of youth
In 1940, at the age of 19, Ren Changlun signed up for the Eighth Route Army. Under Xu's command, Ren Changlun quickly became the squad leader because of his outstanding performance. Since then, he has fought even more vigorously. After more than four years in the army, Ren Changlun has always been in the front. He fought in more than 120 battles against Japan, nine of which were wounded and left 11 wounds all over his body. Each time he returned to the battlefield quickly, never flinching for fear of being injured.
Ren Changlun often said: "For the sake of the interests of the party and the people, when it is time to shed blood, we should shed blood without hesitation!" As Ren Changlun fought bravely again and again, the leader of the Fourteenth Regiment mentioned him more than once in front of Xu, and Xu, the famous tiger who heroically crowned the three armies, gradually became interested in the "fierce tigers" under his command. Therefore, he was commended by the Shandong Military Region as a first-class combat hero.
The fall of the battlefield generals
However, in November 1944, the Battle of Changsha fort, which blocked the Japanese attack on the base area, began. When more than 700 devils entered the pocket array laid by the Jiaodong Military Region, they were attacked by heavy artillery fire and completely confused. At this time, Ren Changlun stood up, and he divided the 9th squad into two groups and attacked the two flanks of the Japanese army. After repelling the Japanese four times in a row, the entire platoon ran out of ammunition. Watching the Japanese army swarming in, Ren Changlun took the lead in rushing to the Japanese army with a bayonet and engaged in hand-to-hand combat with the enemy.
The Japanese army was very fierce, and even if it was beaten back four times, it rushed up without dying. By this time, the bullets and grenades of Ren Changlun's troops had run out, and the only weapons left were bayonets. No matter how much he fought against the enemy, he would not be able to survive such an attack.
Ren Changlun's sacrifice aroused the anger of his comrades-in-arms, and the soldiers launched a more fierce counterattack, attacking the Japanese army and the puppet army from different directions, and the enemy finally fled in a hurry. The war annihilated 258 Japanese troops, captured 12 prisoners, and captured a large amount of weapons and materials. This was the heaviest loss since the Japanese invaded Jiaodong. On the night of Ren Changlun's death, Xu learned of this news and was deeply saddened. Xu personally presided over the memorial service and put a military uniform on his body.
In February 1945, the anti-Japanese government of Huangxian County decided to rename the hero's hometown of Sun Huzhuang to Changlun Zhuang. In honor of the hero, the people of his hometown donated all the bronzes they could find and cast a bronze statue for him, which still stands on Yingling Mountain. Even if he leaves this world, he will continue to look at the hometown he has sacrificed for and defended.
