During the War of Resistance Against Japan, many heroes emerged, who sacrificed their lives to achieve victory in the War of Resistance. Many martyrs could not be buried after their sacrifice, and in honor of these heroes, the living warriors made tombstones and inscribed their names and troops as a memorial. However, due to the continuous transfer of operations, these tombstones are scattered on various battlefields.
In the 1970s, 18-year-old Sun Zaixiang of Anhui Province went to the mountains to herd cattle, because he planned to build a pigsty at home, and when he heard that the tombstone could ward off evil spirits, he planned to dig a piece here and put it under his own pigsty, and the owner of this tombstone was Chen Yanhe.
So why are Chen Yan and the general's tombstone here? It turned out that the area where Sun Zaixiang lived at that time, during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the Sichuan Army used this place as a large rear area, so a large number of martyrs who died in battle were buried here. If it were supposed to be buried with so many heroes, the mountain would not have been destroyed, but because it was at that time to improve the quality of life, more arable land was acquired. Local villagers had to bury the remains of the martyrs in one place. And these tombstones were not seen until 2015, after a hero's descendant, Guo Kaihui, came here, and the story behind him was understood by the world.
In April 1940, the Japanese army and the Sichuan army had a frontal impact in Qingyang County, because there was a big gap between our army and the Japanese army in terms of numbers and weapons and equipment, although our army put up stubborn resistance, but the casualties were very heavy, and countless revolutionary fighters lost their lives. As the rear of the Sichuan Army, the Atsugishi area received countless wounded. But because the damage is indeed very large, medical supplies are far from enough. These soldiers could not get timely treatment and died directly on the battlefield. At this time, all the sacrificial warriors were buried in the front mountain, and according to later statistics, more than a thousand people were buried here.
According to the soldiers who survived the battle at that time, in order to prevent the Destruction of the Tombstones of the Martyrs by the Japanese Army, these tombstones only recorded the soldiers' troops and names, and their cause of death could only be written as "death of illness". It was not until the arrival of Guo Kaihui that the glorious history of the Sichuan Army was known to the world. With the help of volunteers, the tombstones of Chen Yongqin, Chen Yanhe, Wu Pingni and others were soon found, and then invited into the specially built ancestral hall for worship.
In these tombstones, the heroic souls of more than a thousand Sichuan troops are condensed, although they have been destroyed, but with the joint efforts of the government and the masses, the martyrs' cemetery has soon been successfully built, and the heroic martyrs who gave their lives for the War of Resistance Against Japan have finally returned, thus remembering for our posterity forever.
