The Beijing Winter Olympics are approaching, and the last of the "Meet in Beijing" series of test activities, the 4-day Biathlon International Training Week, was successfully concluded in Zhangjiakou.

National Biathlon Center Circuit
Located in the core area of chongli Winter Olympics, the ancient poplar tree stadium group is home to three competition venues: the National Ski Jumping Center "Snow Ruyi", the National Cross-Country SkiIng Center and the National Biathlon Center. The National Biathlon Center, embedded like a jewel in the valley on the north side of the venue cluster, will host 1 biathlon sub-event with a total of 11 sub-events at the Winter Olympic Games, and cross-country skiing and biathlon competitions at the Winter Paralympic Games.
On February 5, the National Biathlon Center will celebrate its first Winter Olympic games day, and on February 19, the venue will end its Winter Olympic mission. After more than 10 days of transition periods, the first Winter Paralympic games will be celebrated here on March 5. Therefore, the construction of the venue facilities should not only ensure the winter Olympic games with high standards, but also take into account the needs of athletes, coaches, technical officials and other groups of people during the winter paralympic games.
During the reporter's visit, barrier-free facilities can be seen everywhere in the area of the national biathlon center venue. Liang Xiaodong, barrier-free manager of the ancient poplar tree stadium group in Zhangjiakou Division, introduced: "The entrance to the building considers the barrier-free factor, the width of the gate is at least 85 cm, and the widest can reach 90 to 95 cm. ”
Barrier-free access to the National Biathlon Centre venue
Liang Xiaodong revealed that in order to do a good job in the design and construction of barrier-free environments, some disabled athletes have been invited to visit the experience and adjust in time according to their opinions and suggestions. "In March and July 2021, the staff of the Beijing Winter Olympic Organizing Committee also came to the venue and raised issues such as the height of the threshold, the width of the door, the size of the slope, and the flatness of the ground, which is very helpful for us to do the detailed work."
For example, an ordinary wheelchair has a net width of 65 centimeters, and the athlete's wheelchair is wider than the ordinary wheelchair, and the venue ensures that the athlete's wheelchair can enter and exit freely through special design. Liang Xiaodong introduced that there are handrails on three sides of the elevator room of the venue, and the wall of the car is mirrored, and those who enter the elevator can grasp the position of the wheelchair parking through the mirror surface to effectively avoid bumps.
"Refinement and humanization are the core of our barrier-free construction work." Liang Xiaodong said.
General barrier-free restrooms, toilets and sinks are fitted with handrails for wheelchair users, while biathlon venues have more careful considerations. "We did the precise calculations, whether using a wheelchair or crutches, a clean hand or a toilet, there will be a suitable support point." Liang Xiaodong said.
During the visit, the reporter saw that the outdoor concatenation of each area is a barrier-free road, and there is no threshold for entering the interior. "Not only does our venue have no threshold, but there are few steps." Liang Xiaodong said that there is a barrier-free road of more than 100 meters under the parking lot to the "Ice Jade Ring", and the slope is convenient for wheelchairs to travel, and after going to the bottom of the "Ice Jade Ring", you can take the elevator to the "Ice Jade Ring" walking avenue.
"The 'Ice Jade Ring' itself is a barrier-free facility and is a major feature of the ancient poplar stadium complex, with a slope of 3-5 degrees. After the Olympic Games, the ice jade ring will also play a role as an Olympic legacy. Liang Xiaodong said.
Handrails installed in the national biathlon center to help the disabled pass
On the north side of the Technical Building of the National Biathlon Center, 24 barrier-free seats are set up, 30 barrier-free seats are set up in the temporary stands on the west side, 21 barrier-free seats are set up in the temporary stands on the east side, 2 barrier-free photography seats are also set up for the media, and 4 barrier-free seats for text journalists are set up in the east stand, and the barrier-free seats are in the best viewing position.
During the race, the general spectator seats have seats, and the barrier-free spectator seats are a vacant lot with barrier-free signs, and wheelchair users can smoothly reach the open space. In addition, the temporary rooms of the venue are given different functions, including a wheelchair storage area where athletes participating in the Winter Paralympic Games can store, clean and repair wheelchairs.
Barrier-free facilities, barrier-free services, barrier-free information, we not only work hardware, volunteers also conduct professional training in accessibility. Liang Xiaodong said that the barrier-free environment of the venue can basically help the relevant groups of people to act freely, hoping that through the meticulous service in the barrier-free field, all the people who come to the venue can feel the warmth and care of the Zhangjiakou Area.
