When Xiang Xuan was two years old, when his mother He Mangu led a rear guerrilla force to cover the wounded and sick, he was attacked by the local landlords' armed forces, and the group was planned to move to Duanjiatai in Yongsheng County, thinking that they had escaped a disaster, but they were betrayed and arrested by traitors from the peasant association.

In 1955, he was awarded the rank of lieutenant colonel, and in 1960 he was promoted to colonel, and he was sent to work in the Chengdu Military Region. In 1978, he became the deputy director of the Chengdu People's Armed Forces Department.
