The researchers calculated that if they exceeded 5 times the gravity of the Earth, even the best athletes would not be able to get up from where they were sitting.
In such a case, a person of 50 kilograms weighs the equivalent of 145 kilograms when sitting.
The most muscular person in the world is estimated to be able to barely stand up and walk a few steps on a planet 4.5 times Earth's gravity.
So researchers estimate that we can survive on planets with gravity 3 to 4 times larger than Earth's, but strengthen exercise to bring our muscle strength to the level of good athletes.
