Recently, data released by SNE Research, a South Korean market research institute, shows that from January to November this year, CATL still maintained its dominant position in the electric vehicle battery market, ranking first with a market share of 31.8%, 11.3% higher than the second-place LG energy solution.

From January to November this year, CATL still maintained its dominant position in the electric vehicle battery market, ranking first with a market share of 31.8%.

SNE Research pointed out that from January to November this year, Chinese companies led the growth of the global electric vehicle market, including pure electric, plug-in hybrid and hybrid vehicles. Only CATL and BYD have a market share of more than 40%, and an increase of 180% and 192% compared with the same period last year, which has a very high position in the electric vehicle market.

At this time last year, LG New Energy was entangled with the Ningde era, when the market share of 22.9% and 24.1% was not large. At present, the Ningde era has completely left LG New Energy behind, and there is no suspense in winning the fifth consecutive championship.

Since the beginning of this year, CATL has locked in a number of long orders, including winning a 4-year order from Tesla, signing a 10-year long-term strategic cooperation agreement with Great Wall Motors, obtaining a 7-year order for Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicles, and supplying Volkswagen, Hyundai, Rolls-Royce, etc.

At present, CATL has completed the supporting facilities of most traditional passenger car factories, bus factories and special car factories, and has cooperated with most first-line manufacturers such as SAIC, Geely, Dongfeng, GAC, BAIC, Changan and so on, and is the power battery manufacturer with the most supporting models.

The popular models of new car-making forces such as Weilai ES8, Xiaopeng P7, Ideal ONE, and WM EX5 are equipped with CATL era batteries.

In terms of overseas customers, in addition to cooperating with traditional car companies such as BMW, Volkswagen, Tesla, Daimler, Jaguar Land Rover, Honda, etc., CATL has also expanded new power companies such as the American Fisker.

From the perspective of production capacity, CATL has landed 10 production bases in the global layout, including Fujian Ningde, Fujian Xiamen, Jiangsu Liyang, Qinghai Xining, Sichuan Yibin, Guangdong Zhaoqing, Shanghai Lingang, Jiangxi Yichun, Guizhou Gui'an and German Thuringia. The planned production capacity of CATL by 2025 is expected to exceed 670GWh.

In February 2021, the Guangdong Provincial Government signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement with Ningde Times New Energy Technology Co., Ltd., which will invest 12 billion yuan to invest in the construction of a lithium battery production base in Zhaoqing, with an initial planning and design capacity of 25GWh, driving the formation of a trillion-level industrial cluster for the whole new energy industry chain.

Recently, the main buildings of the Ningde Times Zhaoqing Project with a total of about 500,000 square meters of buildings have been capped structurally, and have fully entered the stage of indoor facility construction and installation equipment. According to the plan, the project will complete the installation of equipment in March 2022 and put into trial production in June, and it is expected to achieve a battery production capacity of 15GWh and an output value of 15 billion yuan throughout the year.
