2, Peritoneal dialysis
As the name suggests, it is the use of the peritoneum as a semi-osmotic membrane treatment, the clinical use of gravity, the configuration of the dialysate through the catheter into the patient's peritoneal cavity. In this way, there is a difference in the concentration gradient of solutes on both sides of the peritoneum, and through the continuous replacement of the peritoneal dialysate, metabolic wastes and toxic substances in the body can be removed. In short, no matter which method of dialysis, there is only one purpose: to work instead of the kidneys!
So the question is, how long can a patient who undergo dialysis live?
Although there are options for kidney transplantation, due to the high cost of treatment and the difficulty of waiting for a suitable kidney source, dialysis, especially hemodialysis, has become the final choice for most patients with uremia.
Under normal circumstances, if the economic conditions permit, and can maintain regular dialysis, have good living and eating habits, complications can be alleviated, and the survival period of patients is more than 5 years.
