Shadow puppetry began in the Han Dynasty and matured in the early Song Dynasty. Huining's traditional shadow puppet singing voice is unique, mainly for the light shadow cavity, as well as Qin cavity, Meihu, Miao Na tune, percussion, white mouth and other singing voices. Huining shadow puppetry has many characters, different forms and bright colors, and has unique aesthetic value. Huining shadow puppet production process is complex, the production process is long, there are "big threads" and "small threads" two kinds, the road has a head tip, thread, tables and chairs, houses, temples and other masonry props, exquisite carving and painting technology, realistic shape. There are more than 300 surviving scripts and more than 140 plays in Huining Shadow Puppet Theatre. Huining County as "China's small grain town", a variety of grain varieties, one of the most long-standing recipes is Huining stone mill fried noodles, Li family "old workshop" stone mill fried noodles, was founded in the last year of the Qing Dynasty Guangxu, more than a hundred years, generations of generations, with the traditional and original handicraft to nourish this family and even the surrounding more than two hundred kilometers of villagers. In 1936, when the Red Army's Long March passed through Huining, it also made a significant contribution to the hungry Red Army.
