According to the previous report of the Sichuan Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection, on December 30, 2020, Li Yuanfeng, the former party secretary and president of the Sichuan Provincial People's Hospital, was suspected of serious violations of discipline and law and was subject to disciplinary review and supervision and investigation; on September 4, 2021, Li Yuanfeng was expelled from the party, and was cancelled from his treatment, confiscated the proceeds of violations of discipline and law, and his suspected crimes were transferred to the procuratorial organs for review and prosecution according to law.

The court found that from 2003 to 2020, Li Yuanfeng took advantage of the convenience of serving as deputy secretary and vice president of the party committee of the Sichuan Provincial People's Hospital, the convenience of the position of party secretary and president, and the position of authority to provide assistance to relevant enterprises and individuals in the sale of medical equipment and pharmaceutical consumables to the Sichuan Provincial People's Hospital and the counseling hospital, and accepted property sent by Wang mou and 9 other people, equivalent to a total of 21.189498 million yuan. In December 2006, the supervision and audit office of the hospital found that the nursing department of the hospital had a balance of 1.5095 million yuan of off-the-books funds, and Li Yuanfeng, who was the deputy secretary of the party committee and vice president of the hospital at the time, consulted with three other people and decided that the four people would keep the funds separately. After Li Yuanfeng retired, he embezzled 280,000 yuan in his custody.
According to the Zigong Intermediate People's Court, Li Yuanfeng finally stated that he had pleaded guilty and accepted punishment, "fully aware of the serious mistakes of his own behavior, conducted profound self-reflection, and hoped that other personnel would take this as a warning." ”
The Zigong Intermediate People's Court pronounced a verdict in court: Defendant Li Yuanfeng committed the crime of accepting bribes and embezzlement, and decided to carry out 11 years and 6 months imprisonment and a fine of 1.2 million yuan.
