Francis (1923-1987), a native of Mian County, Shaanxi Province, was a modern painter.

In 1946, he studied under Zhao Wangyun and engaged in art creation and publicity for a long time. After 1978, he served as vice chairman of the Shaanxi Artists Association and president of the Provincial Academy of Chinese Painting. He is good at landscapes, flowers and birds, and his works are based on the scenery of rural and pastoral areas in the northwest, paying attention to natural spirits. The ink sketches are thick and fresh, and the real life is introduced into the idyllic artistic feeling, forming its own unique pastoral scenery model. He is one of the representative painters of the Chang'an School.
