At the beginning of the founding of New China, everything was in ruins and waiting to be rebuilt, and the remnants of the Kuomintang forces were still doing evil in the country, so there was no one for the time being, and the cadres who had outstanding work in our party were commended. Later, when time was running out, the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea broke out again, so the matter of awarding titles was postponed again. Until the eve of the 7th anniversary of the founding of New China in 1955, after careful consideration by our party, it was decided to hold a ceremony for conferring the ranks of the three services in Zhongnanhai. In the ranks of colonel-level officers, there was a lieutenant colonel officer with a gray beard. The people around them had never seen this old gentleman, so they went forward to inquire, and only then did they realize that he was a person specially approved by Chairman Mao and an old man who had served as a Qing soldier. Who is this old man? What kind of legendary life did he have?

In 1878, he was born in a family surnamed Jiang, and his parents invited a cultured person to give him a name of Jiang Weiping. At the age of six, because disasters were raging in their hometowns, many people fled to other places, and Jiang Weiping's family also came to Fangshan County to earn little grain by planting land for landlords. Because his family was poor, he had no money for Jiang Weiping to study, Jiang Weiping dropped out of school at the age of 15 and returned home to farm, and at the age of 20, when he encountered the Qing army recruiting, he joined the Huai army led by Li Hongzhang. Although Jiang Weiping was not very old, he had a patriotic heart, and he was also able to fight well and was very brave in peacetime, but at that time, the Qing Dynasty was already decayed, and Jiang Weiping was never reused, but he was not discouraged, but was waiting for the opportunity.
Later, with the death of Li Hongzhang, Yuan Shikai stood up and reorganized Li Hongzhang's troops, and Jiang Weiping was also included in Yuan Shikai's Yang army. In the Beiyang Army, Jiang Weiping, with his past achievements and brave courage, was favored by his superiors and promoted all the way to the position of deputy regimental commander. Although he was promoted and became rich, Jiang Weiping was not happy. Because what he had in mind was how to save the country, but the Beiyang Army was all about accumulating wealth and squeezing the poor people, which was not much better than the previous Qing Dynasty's land-cutting indemnities. Therefore, Jiang Weiping's dissatisfaction with the Beiyang Army became more and more dissatisfied, and with the passage of time, this dissatisfaction not only did not disappear, but gradually accumulated to the peak, and only waited for the fuse to appear, it could be detonated. This opportunity came soon after, once he witnessed the brutality of an officer, and he was so angry that he punished him, but he did not expect to be sued by him, and after the superiors learned of this, they expelled Jiang Weiping. Jiang Weiping was also very tough, and he had a momentum of laughing at the sky and going out, and since then he has left the beiyang warlord's troops.
After Jiang Weiping left the army, he had the idea of finding a way out for the country and happiness for the people. He gave up his gun to pursue medical treatment, although he was already middle-aged at this time, but after several years of study, he still became a well-known doctor. At this time, Jiang Weiping can be described as a grand ambition, although being a doctor is also for the country and the people, he still wants to make greater contributions. So after the outbreak of the May Fourth Movement, Jiang Weiping rejoined the wave of the movement without saying a word. After seeing the feats of the May Fourth Movement, Jiang Weiping deeply felt the expectations of the people of the whole country, so he returned to his hometown in Fangshan, and the mass organizations actively participated in the patriotic movement.
Later, when the September 18 Incident occurred, Jiang Weiping, who had been paying attention to the domestic situation, understood that the time had come for the country to need itself. So he left his hometown and joined the 29th Army led by the Kuomintang Song Zheyuan. At that time, Jiang Weiping's task was to be responsible for treating the wounded soldiers, and at first Jiang Weiping still had an ambitious mentality, but with song Zheyuan's fiasco, Jiang Weiping also returned to the field again. In 1935, Jiang Weiping was nearly old at this time, although the enthusiasm for ambition had not been extinguished, but there was no place for him to show his fists, and he could only help publicize the belief in resisting Japan and saving the country while practicing medicine to save people. But one thing changed the trajectory of his life again, that day he saw the slogan of anti-Japanese national salvation hanging at the entrance of the school, so he walked in curiously, and when he entered the inside, he found that a young man was giving an impassioned speech. The audience also listened attentively, and only afterwards did they realize that they were all members of the Anti-Japanese National Salvation Propaganda Association. After that, Jiang Weiping found the young man who gave the speech and invited him to his hometown to give a speech, and the young man gladly agreed after listening to it, which was also the first time the two met.
This young man is not small, and it is Li Xiangqian, an early member of our party. The reason why his speech was recognized by the masses was that in addition to containing words about resisting Japan and saving the country, it was also mixed with some Marxist ideas, saying how to seek the welfare of the people, so it could be enthusiastically supported by the masses. Jiang Weiping had been talking with Li Xiangqian for a long time, and from Li Xiangqian's mouth, he learned about the concept of the Communist Party and what the Communist Party had done for the country and the people, and Jiang Weiping felt deeply shocked after hearing it, and at this time he understood that the opportunity he had waited for for a lifetime had appeared. He already had the idea of joining the Communists, but before he could act, the Japanese attacked and Jiang Weiping was forced to wander around. In 1938, the Eighth Route Army came to jiang Weiping's location, and Jiang Weiping immediately returned home to discuss with his family about joining the army after listening to it, but the family considered that he was already an old man at this time and should enjoy the blessings of Qing, and did not want him to join the army. But Jiang Weiping did not think so, and when he saw that his family did not agree with him, he did not say much, and silently took the medical kit that accompanied him for most of his life and ran towards the garrison of the Eighth Route Army. At that time, our army was engaged in battle with the Japanese army, and on the road to our army's garrison, there were many checkpoints set up by both sides, but Jiang Weiping relied on his firm will and his own wisdom to come to the eighth route army. However, when the people in charge of the reception were dumbfounded when they saw Jiang Weiping, they had never seen anyone who had come to join the army at such an old age in their lives, and Jiang Weiping's sincere heart touched the people present, so they broke the rules and let him join the army. However, there is a requirement, that is, Jiang Weiping cannot go to the front line, and can use his excellent medical skills to treat diseases and save people in the rear. Jiang Weiping was also very happy after hearing this, as long as he could stay in the army and make contributions.
After entering the Eighth Route Army, Jiang Weiping was quickly transferred to where he was needed, and he also served as the director of the local Salvation Congress. Although Jiang Weiping was old at this time, his patriotism did not weaken in the slightest, and he took the initiative to treat patients every day, which was also recognized by the broad masses of the people. It didn't take long for Jiang Weiping to smoothly become a Communist Party member. At this time, Jiang Weiping still had the heart to go to the front line to kill the enemy, although his repeated applications were rejected by the organization, he still refused to give up, and would write an application every once in a while. Emperor Tian did not pay off, and after careful consideration, he finally decided to obey Jiang Weiping's wishes and let him go to the front-line battlefield.
When Jiang Weiping was on the front line, while fighting with the enemy army, he did not forget to study the prescriptions; during that period, there were hundreds of prescriptions that came out of his hands alone, and these prescriptions helped our army a lot, and many people were treated and treated, which greatly reduced the casualties of our army. And he was also admired by the local people and the soldiers of our army, and as soon as Jiang Weiping entered the working state, he was very dedicated and fell on the road to treating diseases and saving people many times. Even so, he still did not give up his work, because he always remembered his oath under the red flag. Later, at the call of Chairman Mao's army not only as a combat unit, but also as a production team, Jiang Weiping also put down his medicine box, took out agricultural tools again, and produced them together with all the soldiers of the army. Although Jiang Weiping's age is not small, his work ability is still not lost to some young people, he led people to cultivate thousands of acres of fertile land, not only to meet their own needs, but also to have rich grain to hand over. As a result, he was later rated as a model worker of the whole party.
Jiang Weiping has been firmly following the pace of the party, through the War of Resistance Against Japan and then the War of Liberation, to the 1955 award ceremony. At that time, the ceremony faced a problem, that is, there were many old comrades in the army, and they did make a lot of contributions to the revolution, but their positions were not very good, so according to common sense, they did not meet the requirements for awarding titles. However, after understanding the situation, Chairman Mao wrote a sentence with a big stroke of a pen, that is, the old Red Army's award of titles is not low-key. So in the history of our party, thousands of majors like Jiang Weiping appeared, which is the best interpretation of their lives. At the same time, Chairman Mao also specially approved that Jiang Weiping could attend the award ceremony without shaving his beard, which showed Chairman Mao's recognition of this group of people. Enlisted in the army four times in his lifetime, Jiang Weiping is worthy of being a hero of the Chinese nation.
