Zhang Guofu was one of the anti-war veterans who remained unknown for years, until his medical treatment before his death made his identity public.
Born in 1931 in Yushu County, Jilin Province, Zhang Guofu joined the Chinese People's Liberation Army from 1946 and was part of the 47th Army. Just six months after joining the army, Zhang Guofu captured the Kuomintang's Lieutenant Zhao Bozhao in a battle, and after the battle, a special media published the heroic deeds of this battle, and Zhang Guofu was also recorded for his great merits.
Of course, this great achievement was not an accidental event, and later Zhang Guofu successively participated in the "Pingjin Campaign, the Xiangxi Bandits, the Battle of Crossing the River" and so on. Later, at the commendation meeting in 1950, Zhang Guofu attended as a special combat hero, and Later Chairman Mao singled him out to stand with Premier Zhou.
Later, in 1951, Zhang Guofu once again set foot on the battlefield and entered the Korean war. In the course of the battle, it encountered a strong attack of the enemy's "Autumn Offensive", and after seven days and seven nights of fighting, all the companies except Zhang Guofu were killed. Zhang Guofu endured the pain and inner pain and was still carrying out the attack to resist the enemy, the emperor did not pay off, Zhang Guofu eventually waited for reinforcements, and later he was taken to Changchun to recuperate.
After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Zhang Guofu returned to his hometown, and after returning to his hometown, the local government attached great importance to him, asked him to make a report, made combat experience, and arranged the work of the government for him. But although Zhang Guofu has paid so much for the country, he does not want to get special care from the country. Later, Zhang Guofu even changed the name "Zhang Guofu" at that time to the current "Zhang Guofu". Later, he came to Hegang, which was in urgent need of labor at that time, and he did not bring any objects that could prove his identity. Decades passed, and even his own daughter did not know the identity of her father, only that he was a demobilized soldier. Later, one day Zhang Guofu coughed incessantly, so he went to the hospital to check for water in his chest.
When he arrived at the hospital and needed his identity document, he found out that he was a special combat hero. So the hospital at that time reported one after another, and the Central Military Commission sent someone to arrange for him to be hospitalized in the 301 Hospital of the People's Liberation Army. The leader who received him at that time respected him very much and repeatedly told him what he needed to say directly. At that time, Zhang Guofu did not say anything, only said a sentence of "I hope that our party and country are all right." Later, when zhang Guofu died in 1998, the people's liberation army headquarters wanted to bury his body in the Babaoshan Martyrs Cemetery, but later buried him in Hegang according to his own wishes.
