Xin'an Evening News, Anhui Net, and Dawan News reporters learned that the special exhibition on behalf of Anhui was the collection of the Anhui Museum - Ejun Qijin Festival.

The Ejun Qijin Festival was excavated in 1957 in the Qiujia Garden in the south of Shou County, Anhui Province, and is divided into two types: boat festival and car festival, which is a tax-free passage certificate issued by the King of Chuhuai to Ejunqi to transport goods. This "golden knot" is cast in copper and is called "knot" because it resembles a split bamboo knot. This kind of "car festival" and "boat festival" has only been seen so far, so it is extremely precious. It has great value for the study of politics, economy, military, transportation, etc. in the Warring States period, and is also one of the "treasures of the town hall" of the Anhui Museum.

Ejun Qijin Festival

The Ejun Qijin Festival is a tax-free pass issued by the King of Chu to Ejunqi to transport goods in the middle and late Warring States period, with a peculiar gold knot shape and adorned with wrong gold inscriptions, which is one of the treasures of the eight major towns of the Anhui Museum. At present, a total of 5 gold festivals have been excavated, of which two car festivals and one boat festival are collected in the Anhui Museum, and the remaining two are collected in the National Museum of China.

The Ejun Qijin Festival is made of copper, shaped like a slice of bamboo, with a bamboo knot in the middle to divide the knot into two sections, and the knot surface has eight yin carved straight lines as the boundary column of the inscription. The car festival has nine columns of 148 words and 164 words of the boat festival, which are neatly arranged, rationally laid out, dignified and gorgeous, with smooth and natural lines, and extremely exquisite.

Ejun Qijin Festival traffic route map

The ancients intercepted a piece of bamboo with "knots" and divided it into two pieces, each holding one as a relic. It later developed into a pass for access to land and water passes, very similar to the passports seen today. Interpreting the inscription, we can see that the Golden Festival is divided into two kinds, the shorter one is called "Car Festival", which refers to the land passage voucher, stipulates that the land transportation limit is fifty times, and returns after one year, and the traffic range involves present-day Henan, Anhui, Hubei and other places, and also specifically stipulates that copper, leather and other military materials are prohibited from being transported; the longer one is called "Boat Festival", which is called the waterway passage, which can travel up to one hundred and fifty boats at a time, and is also a year round trip, covering present-day Hubei, Hunan, Anhui and other places. Some scholars have proposed that the car festival and the boat festival should be used together, and there may be some interchange between routes, and the conversion can be adjusted as needed. The discovery of the Ejun Qijin Festival has extremely high historical value for the study of the tariff system, water and land transportation, economy and trade of the Chu State.
