Xining, 24 Dec (Xiningbei) -- On 24 December, the Qinghai Provincial Fire Rescue Corps held the "Qilian Mountain-Plateau Earthquake Combat Pull Drill" in Haibei Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province, with the aim of testing the team's ability to deal with the rescue of sudden major earthquakes and catastrophes in the face of extreme cold and lack of oxygen on the plateau, broken roads, and power outages.

The drill set the stage for an earthquake of magnitude 7.0 on the Richter scale in Xihai Town, Haiyan County, Haibei Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, which caused serious damage to nearby buildings, trapped a large number of people, interrupted roads, and made it impossible for vehicles to pass. The actual combat drill site is 3100 meters above sea level and the temperature is minus 20 degrees Celsius.

According to reports, the drill focused on the actual combat exercise of "force gathering, multi-method delivery, communication support, and social linkage", and in view of the various disaster situations caused by the earthquake, it was carried out in accordance with 12 process contents such as emergency response, force gathering, issuing orders, force delivery, cross-regional reinforcement, on-the-way command, on-site assembly, camp construction, receiving tasks, rescue and disposal, comprehensive support, and review of combat cases.

The commanders and fighters participating in the exercise will carry out rescue and exploration, search, demolition, lifting, top bracing, lifesaving and other rescue subjects from the aspects of search and rescue and collapse rescue, and at the same time test the combat effectiveness of personnel, vehicles, equipment and equipment, and search and rescue dogs, obtain basic data, analyze and evaluate, and provide a basis for comprehensively testing the comprehensive rescue and disposal capabilities of the fire rescue team under the conditions of extreme cold and hypoxia on the plateau, and further refining the combat plan.

The drill adopted the methods of long-distance force projection such as aviation, railways, highways, and logistics, so as to realize the joint logistics of personnel, vehicles, and equipment delivery and social units, and 10 units such as emergency response, public security, communications, medical treatment, and meteorology participated in the exercise.

After receiving the disaster report, the Qinghai Provincial Fire Rescue Corps immediately launched the "Qinghai Provincial Heavy and Extraordinarily Large Earthquake Cross-regional Emergency Rescue Plan", quickly set up an earthquake actual combat pull drill command center, based on the comprehensive research and judgment of the disaster information, reported the disaster situation to the Fire Rescue Bureau of the Ministry of Emergency Management, and the command center of the Fire Rescue Bureau mobilized the Gansu Headquarters and two light earthquake rescue teams of the Zhangye and Jiuquan detachments to reinforce Haibei.
