It will be a rare collision between viewing and thinking, color and language!
Ku Art Education Center specially invited famous artist Ma Shuqing and famous philosopher Shang Jie to bring a unique cross-border dialogue. In the words of teacher Shang Jie: "Art and philosophy have never been so close"; and in Ma Shuqing's constant approach to pure painting, color is reduced to a neutral existence in time and space, which can only rely on feeling close, and cannot be explained in words. Language is a tool for human thinking, so a new language, another language, has become an important tool for thinking created by Teacher Ma. The propositions of viewing, language, meaning, time, space, and existence are also objects of discussion by modern and postmodern philosophies. Art and philosophy "meet" here – what kind of sparks will collide between the two?
Teachers Shang Jie and Ma Shuqing are also special tutors of the Ku Art Education Center, and the two have opened "Frontier: Art and Philosophy" and "Color Painting" courses on the Ku Art Online Education Platform, which have been enthusiastically responded to. Introduction of the speaker
Ma Shuqing | Ma Shuqing
Professional artist. He graduated from Tianjin School of Arts and Crafts in 1976, studied free painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich, Germany in 1989, moved to Provence, Paris, France in 1994, returned to Beijing in 2002 to establish a studio in the 798 Art District, and was appointed as a distinguished professor of oil painting at the Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts from 2015 to 2018. He currently lives in Beijing and Paris. Ma Shuqing's painting behavior creates an independent two-dimensional visual space constructed in color and time. Since studying in Germany in the late 1980s, Ma Shuqing has been obsessed with the exploration and research of abstract painting. His paintings embody the self and spirituality that permeate the true restoration of the painting process, presenting pure minimalist colors and visual sensory spaces.

Shang Jie | SHANG JIE
Shenyang people. In 1994, he graduated from the Department of Philosophy of the Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences with a degree of Doctor of Philosophy. Visiting Scholar at the École des Hautes etudes SocialEs in Paris, 1999. He is currently a researcher at the Institute of Philosophy, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and a doctoral supervisor. He is the chairman of the Chinese Society of Modern Foreign Philosophy. His research interests include phenomenology, French philosophy, and postmodern philosophy. His representative works include The Road to Retreat: Traces of French Philosophy in the 20th Century and A Study of the Philosophy of Image and Image
