Serov's The Girl and the Peach
Serov was a student of Repin and later taught by Cheschakov as a member of the traveling exhibition school. Serov painted the famous portrait of Mamontov's daughter Vera, the Girl and the Peach, when Serov was only 22 years old. This is a casual image of instantaneous life, which seems particularly relaxed and natural. Vera in the painting has a pair of large dark eyes, cold and clever, with the disobedient black hair, it seems to be careless. Her slightly tanned face revealed a healthy flush. The girl lived in a typical middle-class family in Russia, the interior was clean and bright, without luxurious decoration, and the painter was interested in depicting the image of the young girl full of sunshine and the living environment in which she lived. The sunlight coming in from the window makes the girl in the backlight, and the spacious and bright walls and tablecloth reflect a gentle light, so that the image of the girl in the backlight is still shining. The painter absorbed the impressionist technique of light and color modeling, and at the same time grasped the portrayal of the appearance of the characters in the painting.
