One is the PMIC power management chip, its price is 10 times more expensive than the DDR4 used, and the supply is very tight, the long 35-week procurement cycle, so that the industrial chain and shelves are constantly raising prices, the price of DDR5 memory is naturally rising.

In addition to the PMIC chip, the DDR5 memory is stuck in the neck of the VRM power supply module, in the DDR5 standard it is also transferred from the motherboard to the memory module like the PMIC chip, although it is also a chip that looks small, but it also leads to the short-term DDR5 memory supply can not keep up.

According to Micron CEO Sanjay Mehrotra, DDR5 memory will not solve the supply problem until at least the second half of 2022, when production capacity can reach the balance between supply and demand.
