Espressif Technologies launches ESP-LEDStrip Intelligent Rhythm Light Solution

People put forward higher requirements for the functions and effects of lighting equipment in a colorful daily life: they not only have basic lighting functions, but also need to enhance the user's intelligent use experience in local/remote control, personalized settings, lighting effect adjustment and other aspects, and even play a role in rendering atmosphere, improving decorative taste, and creating visual impact in different scenes.

Espressif Systems launched the ESP-LEDStrip intelligent rhythm light solution, which can pick up and analyze the external sound, so that the brightness, color and number of lights of the lighting equipment, along with the strength and rhythm of the sound, will change accordingly, so as to achieve the effect of intelligent rhythm and create a lighting atmosphere that understands you better.

The ESP-LEDStrip solution is based on Espressif's ESP32-C3 chip design. Esp32-C3 is a low-power, low-cost Wi-Fi + Bluetooth 5 (LE) chip powered by a RISC-V 32-bit single-core processor with clock frequencies up to 160 MHz, 400 KB of built-in SRAM, and 22 programmable GPIO pins. Esp32-C3 strikes a good balance between computing performance, security mechanisms, memory and cost, and is widely used in common IoT applications, especially in the field of smart lighting.

ESP32-C3 series chips distinguish between embedded flash, operating environment temperature, package size, with a variety of variants, including built-in flash versions, but also support users to connect external flash, so the way to build smart lighting devices is very flexible. The ESP32-C3 is complemented by a microphone module for pickup, making it easy to implement a rhythm lamp solution. You can go to Espressif Chip & Module Selection Tool to quickly select the most suitable product for project development.

The ESP-LEDStrip solution first uses the front-end ADC to connect the analog microphone to pick up the sound; then uses noise reduction, dynamic gain, etc. to process the audio signal; then uses algorithms such as FFT (Fast Fourier Transform) to analyze the frequency and volume of the audio; and finally converts the resulting sound frequency and volume changes into changes in the brightness, color, and number of lit lamp beads of the device.

Using another AI SoC ESP32-S3 chip, Espressif will build smart rhythm lights that will also be given offline and online voice assistant capabilities. Esp32-S3 enables a high-performance acoustic front-end and wake-up-to-speech engine without the addition of any DSP processor. Developers can configure up to 200 custom offline voice commands using the Espressif ESP-Skainet SDK, and the Alexa for IoT SDK makes it easy to integrate Alexa functionality into smart lights for online voice control.

With ESP RainMaker, Espressif's one-stop AIoT cloud platform, we can also use the APP to control the status and profile of smart lights, customize voice command words, and perform OTA upgrades. The ESP32-C3 chip can also be docked with a variety of public cloud platforms, allowing users to quickly build various Types of Internet of Things products, including smart lighting equipment. It also supports the new smart home connectivity standard Matter, enabling users to build smart homes that are secure and seamless to use.

Espressif's ESP-LEDStrip intelligent rhythmic lamp solution provides a cost-effective upgrade idea for intelligent lighting equipment, which is not only suitable for the atmosphere of the family, car, computer and other scenes, but also suitable for the expansion of the scenario mode of various traditional smart lights.
