Scania is recognized as the king of the road among trucks, and from the earliest V8 engines to the modular production that followed, even the logo was a sought after goal for many card friends. A few days ago Scania announced the launch of a new generation of hybrid trucks, divided into full hybrid (HEV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) two, we mainly talk about the plug-in P250 model today.
Today Scania is officially positioned as Sweden's leading supplier of sustainable transport solutions and services, as well as engines and power generation equipment for industrial and marine applications. I won't say much about the rest, lest people say I'm making up the word count. However, the P series models can be briefly talked about, and the earliest P series was one of the modular cab "GPRT" introduced in 1980.
As a low-top model in the first generation of modular trucks, the P series has always been the main model for short-haul transportation. It has been firmly in this segment in subsequent iterations. The P250 mentioned today is a new generation of hybrid models, equipped with a new hybrid system. The new car has been delivered to Holmlunds keri, a transport company in Skellefte in northern Sweden, and the road test of the real vehicle in the cold and desolate north of Sweden is no small challenge for the new powertrain.
The low cab P series is more suitable for short- and medium-distance urban transport, and the largest cab in the series is only equipped with narrower sleepers, but the visibility and driving comfort of the vehicle are relatively high. According to the information, it can be seen that this test was not only tested on open roads, but also in complex road conditions in the city.
As a field test driver, Risberg is an old driver of the team and often needs to cross areas such as forests and rivers to go to Piteo in northern Sweden. In this test, he repeated the day's work as usual, after which Reechberg said that the new hybrid model is very suitable for urban traffic conditions. Because you can almost rely on electricity to operate in the city, there will be a lot less trouble after reducing exhaust emissions. In addition, quiet driving in the city also reduces the impact on pedestrians in the surrounding area.
Inside and outside the cab
The vehicle performs well in narrow city streets and complex road conditions, and the P250 PHEV with the new powertrain is very smooth to drive compared to before. Shifting gears feels relaxed and smooth, without a hint of frustration. The newly developed powertrain combines the motor with the gearbox to form a 6-speed dual-motor clutchless gearbox, which Scania refers to as the "gearbox motor", or GE281 for short.
The fourth generation hybrid truck has a "hybrid" logo in the lower left corner of the front of the truck, indicating that the vehicle is hybrid. The vehicle's plug port is located on the left side of the frame behind the cab. The new motor was upgraded from 115 kW to 230 kW and the maximum torque was 2100 N.m. Paired with a 90kWh battery pack consisting of three 30kWh battery packs. Compared to the previous 35 minutes of charging 80%, the new car can fully charge the battery in 35 minutes, and the design range is still 60 kilometers.
Hybrid logo and plug-in port
Hybrid vehicles are available in two configurations, the DC07 engine with a power of 220-280 hp, and the DC09 engine with a power of 280-360 hp. Thanks to the GE281, the new car has reduced its weight and fuel consumption. Testers assessed that the average fuel consumption fell by about 25%, and the actual situation increased depending on the road conditions and load.
The fourth generation of plug-in hybrid trucks can be matched with L, P and G series models, with wheelbase covering 4350–6350mm and a maximum vehicle load capacity of 36 tons.
