It is reported that Tesla recently decided to outsource the HW 4.0 autopilot chip to Samsung. The new HW 4.0 in-vehicle computer will replace the HW 3.0 currently used in Tesla vehicles and provide technical support for Tesla's advanced driver assistance system, FSD.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk once claimed that "this new computer, also known as fully autonomous driving computer version 2.0, will be 1000% safer than human drivers." Tesla previously claimed that the fully autonomous driving computer version 1.0 currently in use is 300% safer than human drivers.
