On December 19th, Ou Jin and Zhan Rui's new double solo exhibition "The Phase of Data" opened in the Artist Studio 102, Building 1, Creative World, Hongshan District, presenting the latest creations of the two artists in recent years. Curated by Liu Lei, the exhibition will run until March 19, 2022, and visitors can visit the exhibition for free.

Jimu News reporters saw at the scene that Ou Jin's "Floating" video works and "Untitled" series of comprehensive material works attracted many viewers to watch. Artist Ou Jin told reporters that "Floating" is the imaging of data, the data are very logical, the imaging of data is very simulative of the real world, the two black and white "Untitled" works in the exhibition hall are made by him extracting the keyframes in the video work "Floating", and some viewers said that one of them looks very much like the mountains and rivers in reality. In the exhibition hall, a red "Untitled" work, densely packed squares, looks the same, the pattern inside is convex but not the same, but it is also made after he set up the data with a computer. Mr. Ou said the work was inspired by the high-rise buildings he saw along the way back from Hong Kong. "All buildings ultimately boil down to data."

Both artists' creations revolve around data and depth. Curator Liu Lei said: Ou Jin is interested in the data and laws in natural or artificial forms such as plants, waves, industries and buildings - ready-made products in nature; Zhan Rui is concerned with the data and information of daily life such as stocks and weather - that is, ready-made products produced by society.

Artist Zhan Rui's "Listed Companies - Metal Plates" series corresponds to the rise and fall of stock trading in fifteen listed companies in 180 days (corresponding to the 180 bars in the work), which determines the visual form of the work, the smooth and silky metallic texture corresponds to the rise of the stock, the rough and dry metallic texture corresponds to the decline of the stock; the gold, silver, copper and stainless steel color and other metal values correspond to the different market capitalization companies represented by each work.
Ou Jin, born in 1978 in Hunan, currently lives and works in Beijing. The fun of cartography and "digital creation" and the exploration of a vast virtual space have been the main themes of Ou Jin's artistic creation in recent years.
Zhan Rui was born in 1980 in Wuhan, Hubei Province. He graduated from the Oil Painting Department of Hubei Academy of Fine Arts with a bachelor's degree in 2004, and graduated from the Art Department of the University of the Arts London with a master's degree in 2006.
