The story of Yi Yin's precautions against the unforeseen Son of Heaven

The last emperor of the Xia Dynasty was Xia Jie, who was absurd during his reign, killing loyal and good generals indiscriminately, and his regime was in jeopardy.

The story of Yi Yin's precautions against the unforeseen Son of Heaven

At the same time, a vassal state of the Xia Dynasty, the Shang State, gradually became stronger, and King Chengtang, with the help of Xiangguo Yiyin, repaired the virtues of the government internally, developed military strength, and gradually conquered the surrounding small countries externally, and finally in the eleventh century BC, destroyed the King of Jie and established the Shang Dynasty.

Yi Yin was originally recommended by Cheng Tang to king Jie, but king Jie only talked to him once and never paid attention to him again. Cheng Tang saw that King Xia did not use Yi Yin seriously, so he invited him to the Shang Kingdom and worshipped him as a minister, granting him the title of state. Yi Yin lived up to expectations, helped Cheng Tang develop farming, forged weapons, trained the army, and finally destroyed the Xia Dynasty. After Cheng Tang's death, he gave power to Xiangguo Yiyin and asked him to devote himself to assisting his 3 descendants. Yi Yin agreed to his request.

Cheng Tang had 3 descendants: Wai Bing, Zhongren, and Tai Jia, all of whom were the three kings of the Shang Dynasty. However, in the first 3 years of Taijia's succession, he did not devote himself to the great cause of the world, but indulged in wine all day long.

Yi Yin had advised him as an elder and threatened him with the power of Xiangguo, but Taijia still had no intention of governing the country and the people. Yi Yin tried all kinds of methods to make Taijia reform himself, in order to inherit the performance of Chengtang and create the prosperity of the Shang Dynasty, but Taijia still did not think so, and he was stubborn.

A minister advised Yi Yin: "When the first lord reigned, you helped him destroy the Xia Kingdom; The ancestors have passed away, and you have assisted the two human lords, and you have repaid the kindness of the ancestors. Now that you can't do anything about it, why do you have to demand it? You might as well take your gold and silver treasures, find a place with green mountains and rivers, live in seclusion, and enjoy your old age in peace!"

Yi Yin reprimanded the minister, saying, "As a courtier, you should stand up and advise the emperor when the country is in danger. If, as you said, when the monarch was wise and peaceful, the ministers were eating in the court; And once the wind and clouds change and the monarch does not know what is going on, it is hidden, so what is the use of asking our ministers?"

When the minister finished listening, he was dumbfounded, and hurriedly asked Yi Yin for his guilt. Nevertheless, Yi Yin dismissed him from his post and publicly announced the minister's tongue-in-cheek crime, and the crowd listened without fear.

Taijia also knew about this matter and agreed. Yi Yin took the opportunity to persuade Taijia again, but Taijia still did not listen. In desperation, Yi Yin imprisoned Taijia in the Nantong Palace and ordered him to reflect, while he personally presided over the affairs of the DPRK for 3 years.

After 3 years of reflection, Taijia finally repented. Yi Yin personally took him out and handed the power back to him.

Taijia regained the throne and made great efforts to govern, so that the Shang Dynasty reached its peak. Among them, Yi Yin contributed to it, and he served as a Shang Dynasty minister for more than 30 years, laying a solid foundation for the rule of the Shang Dynasty.
