On December 17, the new flagship model of Mercedes-Benz's EQ family, the EQS, was officially launched. A total of 4 models of new cars were launched, and the sales price range was 1.0796-1.5186 million yuan. This new car can be said to be the first model based on Mercedes-Benz's new pure electric platform - EVA, which is fundamentally different from the "oil to electricity" models such as EQC.
In terms of appearance, Mercedes-Benz EQS integrates the latest design elements of the EQ family, and the overall appearance is sporty, especially the back design is somewhat similar to the CLS model. In terms of the front face, the new car adopts a family-style "Dark Night Star Emblem" closed grille, and can choose to install a three-dimensional star emblem pattern "Dark Night Star Array" closed grille. The headlights are connected in series by the family's signature through-the-day light strip, with three dots of light in line with the new S-Class. In addition, the new car is equipped with smart digital headlights, which provide outstanding illumination with up to 1.3 million micro-lenses, with a lighting resolution of up to 2.6 million pixels.
From the side, the new EQS features a bow-shaped design, with full and smooth lines behind the B-pillar and a shortened bonnet length in the traditional sense, allowing the vehicle to move forward. It is worth mentioning that the EQS has a drag coefficient as low as 0.20, making it the lowest production model in the world.
In terms of interior, the MBUX super-screen equipped with the new car seamlessly integrates three (12.3 + 17.7 + 12.3 inches) screens to form a curved screen belt up to 1.41 meters wide, which is also the first time that the screen appears on the new model of Mercedes-Benz. The three large screens are seamlessly connected and deliver clear and textured haptic feedback by 12 sensors, with a perceptual area of up to 2,432.11 square centimeters and are complemented by the latest "zero-level concept", where customers only need to swipe the level 0 menu.
In terms of intelligent driving, the new EQS has up to 350 sensors according to different configurations, including 1 lidar (to be equipped in the future), 1 long-range millimeter wave radar, 4 angle radars, 12 parking ultrasonic sensors, 1 front-facing binocular stereo multi-function camera, 4 360° parking cameras, etc. And equipped with L2 level of driver assistance components enhanced version (P20), covering intelligent pilot distance limit function, active lane keeping assistance system, preventive safety system, active stop-and-go assistance system, intelligent pilot steering function and other intelligent driving assistance system, etc., in the future, under the premise of laws and regulations, EQS can also achieve L3 level driving assistance, for drivers and passengers to alleviate the fatigue of long-distance driving.
In terms of charging, the new EQS is equipped with a 400V high-voltage battery system, which can replenish the power from 10% to 80% in only 48 minutes in the 110kW DC charging mode, and under specific charging power conditions (based on the high-power DC charging pile with liquid cooling device, the charging power reaches 145kW) can be replenished from 10% to 80% in 37 minutes at the earliest to meet the customer's rapid energy replenishment needs.
In addition, the new car also has a rear wheel steering function, which can be up to 4.5 degrees in maximum angle, which improves the handling and dynamic performance of the new EQS, in addition to the optional rear wheel steering function with a steering angle of up to 10 degrees to improve the steering ability of the vehicle.
In terms of power, the EQS 450+ is equipped with a single motor with a maximum power of 245 kW and a torque of 568 N·m, while the EQS 580 will be equipped with a maximum power of 385 kW with a torque of 855 N·m and an acceleration of 4.3 seconds from 100 km/h. In terms of batteries, the EQS has a maximum battery capacity of 108kWh and a pure electric range of up to 800km under CLTC conditions. In terms of charging power, EQS will support 200kW fast charging, and 300km endurance can be obtained after 15 minutes of charging.
