But who dares to truly win the king of a country? Therefore, how to "lose" to the Kangxi Emperor without a trace became a problem for the study of the Qunchen. In the autumn of the 37th year of the Kangxi Dynasty, the Kangxi Emperor, as in previous years, took the Wenwu courtiers to the Mulan Paddock to hunt. On this day, halfway through the hunt, Kangxi led his courtiers to rest under a green pine on a small hillside. Kangxi, who was in a happy mood, suddenly had a seizure of chess addiction, so he ordered someone to put on the chess board and play chess with Li Guang on the side. Li Guangdi knew the way of being a vassal, and having been with Kangxi for a long time, he "lost" to Kangxi several times in a row. Subsequently, Kangxi played against other courtiers, and as before, several ministers were "defeated" under Kangxi. Kangxi felt bored, so he said to the crowd: "If anyone wins, he will be rewarded with one hundred and two gold, and his official position will be promoted three levels in a row." ”
There must be a brave man under the heavy reward, and at this time, a guard named Na Renfu stood up and said that he was willing to try. Kangxi was very happy and ordered Na Renfu to kneel and play against him. Don't look at na Renfu's low status, but his chess skills are indeed superb, he obviously takes Kangxi's reward seriously, does not give up any point in the chess game, and kills Kangxi who has won hundreds of battles before. The ministers watching the battle around them were also covered in cold sweat, and they even gave Na Renfu a look.
Seeing that Kangxi's defeat had been decided, it just so happened that a deer came from the bottom of the mountain, and an old eunuch who could most observe the color of the words rushed to report to Kangxi Yu: "Long live Grandpa, just a fierce tiger has just passed under the mountain!" When Kangxi heard this, he immediately lost his interest in playing chess, and stood up and said to Na Renfu, "I order you to guard the chess game here, don't leave, wait for the tiger hunter to return, and then finish playing this game with you." After saying this, Kangxi left with a bow and arrow and the ministers. Na Renfu heard the emperor say this, and had to wait quietly at the chess game.
In fact, in order to restore the dignity of the emperor, the old eunuch treated the deer as a tiger and led the emperor down the mountain, while Kangxi only cared about hunting tigers and forgot all about the chess game with Na Renfu. It wasn't until more than half a month had passed, when Kangxi passed the small hill again, that he suddenly remembered the chess game, and Na Renfu was still kneeling at the edge of the chessboard, and had been dead for a long time.
Originally, Na Renfu thought afterwards that the emperor was angry because he almost won the chess game, so he kept kneeling on the side of the chessboard and did not dare to move, but what he did not expect was that the emperor just forgot about it. When Kangxi heard about this, he was also very guilty, and ordered the burial of Na Renfu and wrote a poem to mourn: "The attendant Matsushita guards the platform, and his life is in decline when he returns from the tiger." Unaware of the king's light promise, he repented and would come on a horse. ”
