F1 image is damaged, the FIA will launch an investigation into the controversy of the closing battle!

Fearing that the image of the sport in F1 could be tarnished, the FIA will launch an investigation into the controversial safety car incident at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Following discussions at the FIA World Motor Sport Council meeting in Paris on Wednesday, the FIA announced that it would conduct a detailed analysis of the incident to understand what happened and learn from it.

In a statement, the FIA blamed the reason for the impact afterwards in part on "misunderstandings" of the rules by fans and teams, and said the current situation was tarnishing F1's image.

The official FIA statement is as follows:

The whole world watched every game with great anticipation, but there was only one winner in the end. In this regard, many praised Max Verstappen's victory, as well as Lewis Hamilton's outstanding performance to the post-match sportsmanship.

The 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix has sparked a fierce reaction from the F1 community, motorsport and the public.

The FIA's primary responsibility in any case is to ensure the safety of all participants and the integrity of the sport.

In the aftermath of the driver Nicholas Latifi incident, it is clear that serious misunderstandings and reactions have arisen among the F1 team, drivers and fans around the use of safety vehicles and the relevant communication between the FIA arbitration team and the team. The controversy damaged the image of the championship and the celebration of Max Verstappen winning the first drivers' world championship and Mercedes' eighth consecutive constructors' championship.

Following the submission of a report on a series of events that followed lap 53 of the Abu Dhabi Regular Race, the FIA President proposed to the World Council of Motor Sport that detailed analysis and clarification be carried out with all parties involved in the future.

This issue will be discussed and resolved with all teams and drivers to learn from it and provide clear information to participants, the media and fans. This will not only benefit Formula One, but also broadly applicable to other FIA championships. After presentations and discussions, the World Council decided to unanimously support the proposal by the FIA President.

Therefore, the FIA will do its utmost to promote this work in F1 event management and will present a clear research mandate to the F1 Event Committee, with the support of F1 drivers, to the Sport Advisory Committee in order to receive meaningful feedback and conclusions before the start of the 2022 season.
