In 2022, the Drivers' World Champion once again received a bespoke watch from TAG Heuer. It was a special edition chronograph from the Monaco collection, and the custom-made red Arabic numerals "1" at 6 o'clock were undoubtedly inspired by Verstappen's striking status symbol on his car: the number 1, which can only be chosen by the current Drivers' World Champion.

The design of this Monaco skeleton dial watch is inspired by the blue dial of the first TAG Heuer Monaco collection. The overall design of the watch pays homage to the 1969 TAG Heuer Monaco and its initial success, including the blue and red features on the dial, the blue column wheel and the engraving on the oscillating weight. Powering it is the in-house Heuer Caliber 02, which contrasts harmoniously with the movement of the original version of the 1970s TAG Heuer Monaco. The movement uses a traditional column wheel to activate the chronograph function and has a power reserve of 80 hours. The case is sandblasted with grade 2 titanium, giving it a high-tech and robust appearance. The engraved indexes and Super-LumiNova® coating on the hands add an avant-garde and futuristic touch to the collection. For the first time in the TAG Heuer Monaco collection, the date window is treated with the same luminescent coating, making it easy to read in low-light conditions. The hands are also treated with a luminescent coating to ensure excellent legibility in all conditions, day or night.
