It was a special edition chronograph from the Monaco collection, and the custom-made red Arabic numerals "1" at 6 o'clock were undoubtedly inspired by Verstappen's striking status symbol on his car: the number 1, which can only be chosen by the current Drivers' World Champion.

Launched in 1969, the TAG Heuer Monaco collection quickly became one of the most iconic watches in history due to its bold square case design and innovative chronograph function, which won it over racing fans and watch enthusiasts alike.

The design of this Monaco skeleton dial watch is inspired by the blue dial of the first TAG Heuer Monaco collection. The overall design of the watch pays homage to the 1969 TAG Heuer Monaco and its initial success, including the blue and red features on the dial, the blue column wheel and the engraving on the oscillating weight. Powering it is the in-house Heuer Caliber 02, which contrasts harmoniously with the movement of the original version of the 1970s TAG Heuer Monaco. The movement uses a traditional column wheel to activate the chronograph function and has a power reserve of 80 hours. The case is sandblasted with grade 2 titanium, giving it a high-tech and robust appearance. The engraved indexes and Super-LumiNova® coating on the hands add an avant-garde and futuristic touch to the collection. For the first time in the TAG Heuer Monaco collection, the date window is treated with the same luminescent coating, making it easy to read in low-light conditions. The hands are also treated with a luminescent coating to ensure excellent legibility in all conditions, day or night.

The golden light bears witness to the posture of the champion

On 18 April, the day before the start of the race, Max Verstappen visited the pop-up exhibition to experience the unique charm of TAG Heuer's precise timing and motorsport. On that day, a TAG Heuer Carrera chronograph in an 18-carat 3N yellow gold case sparkled on his wrist. Embodying the spirit of a legendary driver, this exceptional timepiece symbolizes the drivers' relentless pursuit of excellence on the track and inspires the wearer to take on exciting challenges with the same passion that interprets the history of motorsport.

The story of this watch traces back to a revolutionary idea proposed by the visionary Jack Heuer: to give racing drivers a timepiece made of gold. This ingenuity has created an unbreakable bond between TAG Heuer and the world of motorsport. These watches are not only a reward for the driver, but also a loyal companion in the driver's relentless pursuit of victory. Amidst the roar of the engine and the thrill of high-speed racing, these timepieces shine through the wrists of drivers like Ronnie Peterson and Niki Lauda, encouraging them to constantly push their limits.
