In the final stages of the Abu Dhabi stop, Red Bull and Mercedes lobbied race director Michael Massey. Ricciardo believes that this will bring a lot of distractions and may make things more complicated and confusing.

Ricciardo's teammate Lando Norris stressed the need for rule consistency, but said "99 percent of things are very good" and that human error must be taken into account.
