Croissants, rhododendrons, round chrysanthemums, pomegranate flowers... On December 15th, a special "Flower Show" opened at ifS International Finance Center in Chengdu. The "flowers" depicted by various colored lines are more beautiful than the real flowers, and they look like clouds from a distance. This is the Sichuan traditional craft "activation derivative" series of activities "Qiangyin Ling embroidery - Qiang embroidery innovation inheritance exhibition".
On the morning of December 15, 2021, the "Qiangyin Ling embroidery - Qiang embroidery innovation and inheritance exhibition" of the Sichuan traditional craft "activation derivative" series of activities opened at the Chengdu IFS International Finance Center Art Gallery.
Qiang embroidery is a traditional embroidery art popular in the Qiang ethnic areas of Sichuan and other places, with a long history, mostly expressing the history, life, culture and beliefs of the nation, and is called "the epic poem worn on the body" by experts and scholars. In 2008, Qiang embroidery was included in the second batch of Intangible Cultural Heritage List in China. In this exhibition, Yang Huazhen, a national non-hereditary inheritor of Tibetan weaving and flower picking embroidery technology, brought a number of works, and at the same time, there are also young and excellent Qiang embroidery designers, which add a lot of innovation and interest to the works of Qiang embroidery.
At the exhibition site, not only the traditional works of Qiang embroidery were displayed, but also the works of Yang Huazhen's cross-border cooperation with international brands in recent years. These works are a new breakthrough for Chinese non-heritage people to inherit and develop intangible cultural heritage skills.
The exhibition takes "design" as a bridge to communicate traditional national cultural elements and contemporary fashion life, and launches innovative products and derivatives of Qiang embroidery design through the exhibition methods such as "Qiang embroidery story telling", "classic Qiang embroidery works exhibition", "Qiang embroidery design innovative works display", "theme concept installation interaction" and "Qiang embroidery theme documentary exhibition". The exhibition integrates Lingyun Qiang embroidery into the fashion experience space and fashion lifestyle, and in the downtown area, it shows the ancient and mysterious Qiang culture, and takes this as an opportunity to explore the inheritance and development of traditional intangible cultural heritage skills and the path of integration into contemporary life.
The reporter learned from the organizer that the Sichuan traditional craft "activation derivative" series of activities will focus on the excellent traditional craft intangible cultural heritage projects of the Tibetan, Qiang, Yi and Han nationalities, take the innovative design and display of traditional crafts as the main content, commit to the integration of intangible cultural heritage and fashion, plan fashion design, exhibition and display, dialogue and exchange activities, and continue to promote the exploration and innovation transformation of Sichuan's intangible cultural heritage.
