The confirmed case in Dongguan is infected with the virus Delta, which is highly homologous with the reported cases in other provinces

At a press conference held on the afternoon of December 15, Luo Dong, deputy director of the Dongguan Municipal Center for Disease Control and Prevention, revealed that the two new asymptomatic infected people reported in Dongguan on December 13 have been converted into confirmed cases. According to the sequencing results of the second and third generation genes of the Guangdong Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention, the viruses in the two cases were all Delta variants, and the sequences of the two cases were highly homologous to the cases reported from other provinces and belonged to the same chain of transmission.

Luo Dong said that the nucleic acid load of the virus in the two cases was high, indicating that the virus had a large amount of detoxification and strong transmission. In view of the prevention of the Delta variant, he once again reminded the general public to continue to do a good job in personal protection, insist on wearing masks, washing hands frequently, gathering less, ventilation, and maintaining social distancing, which is the simplest, most effective and most practical way to prevent new crown pneumonia.
