After BYD launched the DM-i super hybrid series of mass production vehicles, it became the first traditional car brand in China to sell new energy models, and the DM-i series that was in short supply was indeed a fire. However, the price of at least 100,000+ is not easy for ordinary families, so in the development of BYD's new energy models, the e-series with lower prices and more inclined urban commuting has become a cost-effective product. The 2020 BYD e1 smart and comfortable model that we are going to introduce today is the more popular model in the series, which is priced at 69,800 (hereinafter referred to as BYD e1).

Exterior design
In terms of front design, the closed intake grille is not completely free of air holes, on both sides of the circular brand logo, the dense punching design in addition to the decorative role, in fact, also provides a stomata channel to achieve a certain intake cooling or reduce the effect of wind resistance. The bumper disposal is with a black lower stomata structure, the design of both ends will make us think of e2, e3 and other models in the e series, the C-type diversion structure is relatively shallow, but the sports style layering at the lower end can still appear more personalized.
Headlight design, the irregular headlamp formed by the combination of double ellipses with a large area of lampshade lens, the near and far lights are all halogen light sources and can be realized in this smart and comfort model led light source option with daily running lights, lighting functions are more basic, only provide height adjustment, but the style will appear more cute.
In terms of side design, the structure of the hatchback is very clear, but its A-pillar length is significantly larger than the B-pillar, which is because the BYD e1 is essentially a mini-car with a size of 3465/1618/1500mm, and the wheelbase of 2340mm can ensure that it has a double-row layout, but the proportions are not so coordinated. In addition, although the keyhole design appears on the door, it actually provides a remote control key.
In the rear design, the size of the rear windshield is very large, and the tailgate is actually the windshield area, with the bracketed layering structure in the rear bumper, which makes the rear end of the car the most recognizable area on the BYD e1.
In the taillight design, the tail light layout is on both sides of the rear windshield, and the longitudinal layout can provide a better lighting reminder effect, while the inner circular light cavity is more traditional.
Interior design
In the central control design, there is a suspension touch screen on the horizontal panel decoration, and the air conditioner outlet is placed on the lower side of the separate prominent side, and the gear shift mechanism will have common functions and quick buttons and knob adjustments for air conditioning, which is also a suspension style in the shape, which can save space in the hand. The steering wheel is a three-frame design and uses a perforated pattern of the surface, but does not provide multi-function buttons.
In terms of decorative materials, except for a hard decorative panel in the central horizontal area, most of the other areas are based on the plastic molding process, while a small number of imitation metal decorative materials are used in the air conditioning outlet, gear shift mechanism and other areas; and in the inner door panel position, we will see the same color of the trim as the exterior paint of the body, and the seat is covered with fabric materials.
On the vehicle system, the 8.0-inch touch screen adopts a wide black edge decoration, although it is not a complete DiLink system in the car machine, but there is still a navigation system with real-time road information, built-in AutoNavi map, koala FM and other on-board software, and support Bluetooth calling and OTA online upgrade. At the same time, this car machine system also has the support of 8.0-inch LCD instrument display, and the vehicle condition information can be better displayed.
In terms of vehicle configuration, limited by the commuting positioning and price threshold of the vehicle itself, the function configuration of BYD e1 is not much, but the reverse image of the basic rear parking radar is still there, and it also provides front airbags, tire pressure monitoring alarms in active and passive safety, and provides window electric adjustment, rear seat reclining, manual air conditioning and so on in the accessories.
In the cabin space, the experiencer who is 175cm tall can get 1 punch + head space in the front seat, and the rear head space also has 4 fingers, and the distance between the legs and the backrest of the front seat is also 1 and a half punches. In the trunk part, when there is no adjustment of the rear seat, only some soft backpacks or other luggage can be placed longitudinally, and the depth of the rear seat can reach more than 1 meter after quickly falling down, and the storage is acceptable.
Mechanical structure
In the powertrain, BYD e1 is equipped with a permanent magnet synchronous motor in the front axle, with a maximum power of 45kW, a peak torque of 110N·m, and a fixed gearbox on the transmission; at the same time, BYD e1 is equipped with a ternary lithium battery pack with a capacity of 32.3kWh, which can bring 305km of pure electric cruising range, support half an hour of fast charging, and provide 8 years or 150,000 kilometers of battery warranty.
On the chassis suspension, the BYD e1 is equipped with McPherson-style independent suspension and torque beam non-independent suspension, which is good for the space optimization of the rear row, while the lower chassis of the hatchback makes it better in dynamic control.
