Seven months after voting on whether Tesla should accept Dogecoin as a payment method for Tesla Twitter fans, Musk said Tesla would try doge coins as a payment option for some of its merchandise.
Similar to his previous tweets about digital currencies, Musk's Dogecoin update led to a 24% increase in the cryptocurrency's market capitalization to $0.195.

Tesla has sold a number of small items, such as its vehicle models, clothing, and fun items such as lightning-shaped tequila bottles, as well as the recent Cyberrock-inspired whistle, Texas-inspired belt buckle, and kids' version of Cyberquad (many of the items in Tesla stores are also often produced, which is perfect for a trial run of cryptocurrency payments).
In fact, Musk's preference for Dogecoin is no secret, because of the nature of this currency, Musk has repeatedly called this digital currency "the people's cryptocurrency" (Musk himself owns some Dogecoin).
If Musk's claims about Dogecoin payments this time are true, it will be the second time Tesla has accepted cryptocurrencies as a payment method for its products.
Earlier this year, Tesla became the first automaker to accept bitcoin payments, which also made Tesla history. However, due to environmental concerns related to bitcoin mining, Tesla eventually suspended Tesla Motors' bitcoin payment option, although Musk noted that he could reopen the way for this cryptocurrency to buy Tesla once the mining of digital currencies becomes more sustainable.
