Lexus RZ debuts pure electric vehicle based on the e-TNGA platform

On December 14, at the Battery & Electric Vehicle Strategy Conference held by the Toyota Group, Lexus' first pure electric vehicle, the Lexus RZ, was officially unveiled. The new car is based on the e-TNGA platform, positioned as a compact all-electric SUV, which can be seen as a luxury version of the Toyota bZ4X. It is reported that the new car will be officially released in 2022.

Judging from the exposed pictures, the new car will continue to use the front face of the Lexus family spindle, but because it is an electric car, it adopts a closed grille design. Underneath the sharp headlights are two black decorative panels that make the entire front face look more layered. There are air intakes at the very bottom of the front face and on both sides to provide heat dissipation and circulation.

On the side, the new car adopts a slipback design, and the B, C, and D pillars are all painted in black, which looks like a suspended roof. The charging socket is set on the front fenders, and the design of the entire body is still quite smooth, but it does not use the popular hidden door handle.

At the rear, the new car uses through taillights, and the tail of the slipback is equipped with a spoiler tail, which looks more dynamic overall.

The interior and power part of the new car have not been announced, but considering that it shares the platform with the Toyota bZ4X, for reference, the Toyota bZ4X will use a 215 hp electric motor and use a 72.8 kWh battery pack, and the range is expected to reach about 350 km.
