A producer at CNN was arrested on suspicion of luring a 9-year-old girl into illegal sexual activity

Arrested was 44-year-old John Griffin, from Stamford, Connecticut, who has been a producer at CNN for eight years. He was charged with three counts of using interstate trade in an attempt to lure minors into illegal sexual activity.

The indictment alleges that Griffin used messaging apps like Kik and Google Hangouts to contact people who claimed to be the young girl's parents in an attempt to "persuade those parents to allow him to train their daughter to become sexually submissive."

In one of the cases mentioned in the indictment, Griffin is accused of paying a mother in Nevada $3,000 in June 2020 to have her and her 9-year-old daughter fly to visit him and engage in "illegal sexual activity" with her 9-year-old at his home.

The U.S. Attorney's Office stressed that griffin's indictment contained only charges and that he remained presumed innocent until he was found guilty. In each of the charges, Griffin faced a sentence ranging from 10 years to life in prison.

In addition, the indictment includes a notice stating that the federal government intends to seize one of the person's properties, his Tesla car, a Mercedes car and other property used to commit the alleged crime.
