As early as 2019, the Alfa Romeo Tonale concept car was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show, due to the requirements of performance improvements and the global chip shortage, the debut of the car was postponed twice, and recently, according to foreign media reports, the new car is scheduled to be unveiled in the first quarter of 2022.
In terms of appearance, the new car still adopts Alfa Romeo's family design language, and the front net adopts the family's traditional inverted triangle middle net design, with the slender headlight shape on both sides, making the entire front face look highly recognizable. On the side of the body, the side lines of the new car can be said to be highly overlapping compared to the concept map, of course, the configuration of the interior has also been upgraded. The new car is expected to be equipped with a 12.3-inch full LCD instrument and a 10.25-inch central control LCD screen. The steering wheel has a flat-bottomed design.
In terms of power, the new car will be equipped with a 1.5T low-power turbocharged engine, a 2.0T turbocharged + 48-volt light hybrid and a plug-in hybrid engine, the transmission system may match the 8-speed manual transmission, and some models will also provide four-wheel drive systems.
At the same time, the new car also offers a plug-in hybrid system.
It has also been revealed that the new car will be built on the existing Jeep guide, which is equipped with a plug-in hybrid system and is available in two versions - 190 hp (142 kW) and 240 hp (179 kW). The system uses a 1.3-liter turbocharged engine with a 60 hp (45 kW) electric motor on the rear axle. A battery with a single charge of 11.4 kWh has an electric range of 30 miles (49 km).
FCA has invested more than $1 billion in infrastructure and factories across Italy to develop hybrid and electric vehicles. Along with the upcoming Alfa Romeo Tonale model, a popular Fiat Panda Hybrid was produced.
