On December 12, local time, according to CNN, the special committee of the US House of Representatives responsible for investigating the riots on Capitol Hill on January 6 issued a resolution recommending that the House of Representatives detain former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows for contempt of Congress.
On December 7, local time, Benny Thompson, chairman of the U.S. House of Representatives Congressional Riot Investigation Special Committee, said that because Meadows refused to testify in court on the congressional riots, the committee would prosecute him for contempt of Congress.
In response, Meadows has filed a lawsuit against House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and members of the Special Committee, asking federal court to block the committee from issuing him a subpoena and prohibiting the committee from soliciting his phone calls from Verizon Telecom. (CCTV reporter Xu Dezhi)
