With the "guns firing in unison" of 11 snow-making equipment, the Shougang Ski Jump in Shijingshan District of Beijing officially launched snowmaking work on the 12th, marking the official opening of the snowboarding and freestyle ski jumping events for the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics.
It is reported that at the beginning of the design of the big jump platform, a hoist system was set up at the beginning of the track, and on December 11, the snowmaking team transported 9 of the snowmaking equipment to the predetermined placement through the hoisting system at the starting point.
The Shougang Ski Jump uses snowmaking equipment in combination with partitions to meet the snow volume requirements of different areas. There are two guns and one gun in the end area, and two guns and four guns in the jump area, while one shot and one gun are left in reserve. "Our snowmaking work starts in sync with the start zone and gradually moves towards the departure zone. The snow thickness in the departure area will reach 0.5 meters, and the jumping track and end area will be 0.5 meters to 4 meters. The entire snowmaking team consists of 14 Chinese and foreign personnel, including 8 snowmaking commissioners. Unlike other snow venues, due to the high daytime temperature, late cooling and short cold tide in Beijing, snowmaking requirements can only be met at night until early in the morning. In order to ensure successful snowmaking, snowmaking specialists need to monitor the climate and wind direction conditions at all times and start up in time, and after the equipment is started, they also need to check the snowmaking situation every hour in order to achieve snowmaking with maximum efficiency and high quality.
During the entire snowmaking period, the snowmaking area of the Shougang Ski Jumping Track is about 4190 square meters, the snow storage area is 1000 square meters, and the total snowmaking is 11500 cubic meters, of which 720 cubic meters are auxiliary slides, 7200 cubic meters are jumping areas, landing slopes and landing areas, and 3600 cubic meters of snow storage.
