The white snow track is shining silver, the curve is beautiful and smooth, and against the background of the steel mill's industrial heritage, the silver-clad Shougang Ski Jump is particularly dazzling, just like the "flying sky" image in the Dunhuang mural.

Shougang Ski Jumping is the only snow sports competition venue in Beijing, and four gold medals were decided during the Beijing Winter Olympics, two of which were won by Gu Ailing and Su Yiming. Behind the wonderful competition, it is inseparable from the efforts of the service support personnel. "Inside and outside the closed loop of the venue, there are more than 1,100 people providing service guarantees." Song Shiyuan, director of the Shougang Ski Jumping Stadium, introduced that among them, there are front-line employees of Shougang Group, staff of Shijingshan District Government, and volunteers, etc. "Everyone worked together to complete the event guarantee efficiently." ”

Mountain Operation Manager Han Dong——

"Snow was made overnight for the sake of the game"

Jumping, taking off, flipping... Su Yiming's series of actions flowed like clouds and flowing water, which attracted a round of applause from the audience.

In the men's big jump final on snowboarding on February 15, after three rounds of competition, Su Yiming won the gold medal.

This 164-meter-long track bears witness to the hard work of the Athletes of the Winter Olympics and also embodies the wisdom and sweat of the snowmaking team.

"Dozens of overnight snowstorms for the sake of a great game." Han Dong, mountain operation manager of the Shougang Ski JumpIng Stadium Operation Team, could not hide his excitement.

The urban area has high temperature during the day, late cooling, and short cold tide, and the Shougang Ski Jump is often made at night until the early morning to make snow to maintain snow. During the snowmaking period, Han Dong always keeps an eye on the thermometer and chooses to start the snow machine under the most suitable conditions, "Once the temperature drops below minus 2 degrees Celsius, we immediately start snowmaking." "With the change of temperature and humidity, it is also necessary to adjust the snowmaking gear and snow angle of the snow gun at any time to ensure that the snowmaking quality meets the standards of the Winter Olympic Games."

"The snow thickness in the departure zone is 0.5 meters, and the jumping area to the end area is 0.5 meters to 4 meters." Han Dong said that the amount of snow required in each area and the angle of the snow slope are strictly required, and the snowmaking work should be carried out around these needs.

After the snowmaking is completed, the team staff also uses precision equipment to accurately shape the position, height, elevation angle, parabola length, etc. of the jumping platform to ensure that the angle of the land slope matches the parabolic line after the athletes take off.

Volunteer Liu Yukuan——

"Contributing to the protection of the Winter Olympics"

"Please come with me." After carefully checking the documents, Liu Yukuan, a volunteer of the Shougang Ski Jump, reminded the athletes to register for registration and hand cleaning, and then guided them to the competition area. From receiving athletes to visit the museum in advance to entering the competition stage, Liu Yukuan from Beijing Institute of Technology is familiar with the relevant processes.

In January this year, 389 Winter Olympic volunteers from the Shougang Ski Jump were officially inaugurated, covering 25 business areas such as sports, technology, celebration ceremonies, news operations, and venue management. It is understood that these volunteers are mainly from 9 universities such as Beijing Institute of Technology and Shougang Institute of Technology, as well as Tiantan Hospital, 999 Emergency Center, Shougang Group and other units.

"We have gone through four stages: general training, professional training, venue training and on-the-job training, and organized volunteer training in the form of online teaching and offline batch training." Ma Xiaoning, volunteer manager of the operation team of the Shougang Ski Jumping Stadium, participated in the service guarantee work of the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympic Games. In order to familiarize volunteers with the workflow as soon as possible, the venue operation team launched volunteer training at the end of October 2021.

"As university student volunteers, we greet guests from all over the world with professional service and full of enthusiasm, and contribute to the protection of the Winter Olympics." Liu Yukuan said.

Wei Wei, head of mountain operation logistics——

"Before each race, the protective equipment of the big jump is checked one by one"

The 2.7-kilometer security closed line, Feng Tao, security manager of Shougang Ski Jump, has to repeatedly investigate the field every day. "The hard isolation interval here is larger, and it is necessary to ensure that all kinds of personnel do not cross each other and connect smoothly..." Feng Tao patiently and meticulously instructed the staff to refine the work items.

The Winter Olympics and the Spring Festival meet, the Shougang Ski Jump at night is lit up with landscape lights, and the crystal snow on the track is illuminated in colorful colors, attracting many tourists to take pictures. In order to avoid tourists from straying into the enclosed area, Feng Tao patrolled until two o'clock almost every night.

Are the sponge bump pads on both sides of the track accurately positioned? Is the protective net secure? Is the air cushion air content and elasticity up to standard? "Before each race, the protective facilities of the big jump are checked one by one." Feng Tao's colleague Wei Wei, head of mountain operation logistics for the venue operation team, said.

In the end zone, thick protective air cushions allow athletes to avoid injury when they rush out of the snow when the game lands. Next to the venue, the medical support team is on standby at any time. "Not only is the snow quality on the track good, but the safety protection is also in place." Many athletes praised the work done by Wei Wei.
