After Huawei encountered the "lack of core crisis", the global smartphone market has experienced a round of reshuffle, and the new market pattern has been basically determined today.
Fast Technology December 11 news, research institute Canalys statistics on the global smartphone market sales in the third quarter, overall, affected by the tight supply of chips in the semiconductor industry, global mobile phone shipments fell by 6% in the third quarter of 2021 to 320 million units.
From the perspective of the market share ranking of manufacturers, Samsung still adheres to the first, although Huawei has fallen off the list, but three of the top five mobile phone manufacturers are still from China.
The list shows that Samsung is still in a leading position in the global smartphone market, with shipments reaching 69.4 million units in the third quarter, accounting for 21% of the market.
It is understood that since Samsung reached the top of the world's first position in 2013, it has been the manufacturer with the highest shipment volume in the global smartphone market, so it is not unusual for Samsung to still rank first in the third quarter.
However, it should be noted that although Samsung ranked first, its shipments fell by 13%. The reason is that the author believes that there are two main aspects, one is the decline in Samsung's production capacity in Vietnam, and the other is the absence of Samsung Note series new machines.
Today, Vietnam has become Samsung's largest production base in the world, but since the beginning of this year, the repeated epidemic in Vietnam has led to a large decline in mobile phone production capacity, which has affected the sales of Samsung mobile phones.
In addition, according to Samsung's previous release rhythm, a new generation of Note series new machines should have been launched in the third quarter of this year, but until now the machine is still missing, and even the news that Samsung will cancel the Note series. Although Samsung released a number of new folding machines in the third quarter, the folding machine is still a niche demand, and it cannot completely replace the Note series for the time being.
Considering the iPhone 13's popularity and the christmas sales peak is just around the corner, analyst firm Trendforce expects Apple to replace Samsung as the world's largest smartphone maker in the fourth quarter of this year.
In the third quarter of this year, Apple's mobile phone ranked second in the world with 49.2 million units shipped and a market share of 15%. Driven by the large number of shipments of the iPhone 13 series, Apple's mobile phone shipments increased by 14% in the third quarter.
Ranking third in the world is the Chinese mobile phone brand Xiaomi, Canalys data shows that in the third quarter, Xiaomi mobile phone shipments reached 44 million units worldwide, with a market share of 14%, only 1% different from Apple.
You know, in the second quarter of this year, Xiaomi surpassed Apple and sat in the position of the world's second largest smartphone manufacturer. In the third quarter, the sales ranking of Xiaomi mobile phones fell to third, and the author believes that there are two main reasons, one is that after the release of the iPhone 13 series, it is very popular in the market; the other is that Xiaomi also has a chip shortage problem, so it affects mobile phone sales.
However, even if Xiaomi's sales ranking has declined, it is still the one with the highest sales volume among domestic mobile phone brands.
Canalys data shows that the other two domestic mobile phone brands OPPO and vivo, the third quarter of mobile phone shipments ranked third and fourth in the world, accounting for a market share of about 11%, a difference of 3% from Xiaomi.
On the whole, in the top five sales of the global smartphone market, Chinese mobile phone brands occupy three seats, which does have a good performance, but from the perspective of long-term development, it is very difficult for domestic mobile phone brands to go further.
On the one hand, the impression of domestic mobile phone brands to consumers has always been "cost-effective", "low-end", etc., and its influence is far less than that of Samsung and Apple.
On the other hand, domestic mobile phone brands do not have their own core competitiveness, and they are highly dependent on American companies in chips and systems, which will inevitably affect future development.
Previously, Lei Jun had publicly stated that Xiaomi's goal is to be the world's first in three years. It is undeniable that the sales of Xiaomi mobile phones are very strong, but if the above two reasons are not solved, even if Xiaomi sits in the world's first position in the future, it will not last long.
What do you think about the sales performance of domestic mobile phones in the third quarter of this year?
