The warrior was born in 1905 in Xiangtan County, Hunan Province, the eldest son in the family, Yang Meisheng's father ran a small medicine shop, the salary can only be subsistence, Yang Meisheng had two years of private school when he was young, and later because the family was really poor, he had to drop out of the medicine shop to work as a helper to share the family burden.
In 1927, Yang Meisheng went to Changsha alone to make a living, when Changsha was not lacking in the unemployed, Yang Meisheng was naturally one of them, and soon Yang Meisheng spent all his money and wanted to go home, just when he felt confused, the Hunan Provincial Federation of Trade Unions and all walks of life were holding an anti-British demonstration of 100,000 people, and Yang Meisheng joined the parade.
Because of his excellent performance in the demonstrations, the Hunan Federation of Trade Unions recommended him to serve as a soldier in the guard regiment of the General Headquarters of the Second Front Of the National Revolutionary Army in Wuhan, which was later the First Division of the First Army of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Revolutionary Army, and gave Yang Meisheng two silver dollars as a travel fee.

In 1936, Yang Meisheng met and married Liu Jian, and during the War of Resistance Against Japan, Yang Meisheng first worked as a teacher in a military academy, and in April 1940 came to the front line and served as a commander.
Fighting the Japanese army and Wang Jingwei's puppet Nationalist government in the anti-Japanese base area east of Jinpu Road, he adopted the tactics of anti-sweeping and anti-encroachment to consolidate and expand the revolutionary base areas of our Party.
