Xiamen, 11 Dec (Xinhua) -- Title: "I found the stage of my dreams on the mainland" -- Taiwan compatriots shared moving stories at the Straits Forum

Xinhua News Agency reporters Xu Xueyi and Deng Qianqian

A Taiwanese "post-90s" was on the "elite list" together with mainland classmates in the entrepreneurial atmosphere of "Northeast Taiwanese"; a Taiwanese student, who came to the mainland because of studying Marxism, found that the original Taiwanese youth had a glorious tradition of pursuing progress; a Taiwanese Miaoli youth realized the "curve overtaking" of his life twice on the mainland.

On the 11th, at the 13th Straits Forum Conference, three Taiwan compatriots took the stage to share their moving stories of studying, starting a business and finding employment in the mainland. They said: "The mainland has unlimited opportunities + Taiwanese youth's courage to work hard = the dream will come true." ”

"New Beijinger" Xu Tao: "Here, dreams can really be realized"

Born in Taipei, Taiwan in 1993, Xu Tao started a business with northeastern classmates and was listed on the "Forbes China Under 30 Elite List" in 2020. He held that this is the best embodiment of "the concerted efforts of the two sides of the strait and the loss of their interests."

During his college years, Xu Tao started a business in Taipei 3 times without tepidness. When he was struggling with whether to stay in Taiwan or go to the United States after graduation, Bao Guanyu, a mainland exchange student at the same table, talked about the mainland sharing bicycles and takeaway brothers, giving him a third option.

The two started a partnership in Zhongguancun, Beijing. The partners from Tiannan and Haibei on both sides of the taiwan strait have different ways of thinking, quarreling almost every day, but they are as good as brothers. Bao Guanyu is a native of Harbin, and Xu Tao laughs and calls the company's official language "Northeast Taiwanese."

Their company is called "Small Packet Smart Workers", which is an online work platform that helps ordinary people find jobs through the Internet. The entrepreneurial process once faced a "tragic situation" such as not being optimistic about investors, not being able to grasp the direction of the business, breaking the company's capital chain, and even not being able to pay salaries for 10 months. But Xu Tao was not willing to give up. He believes that the entrepreneurship of Internet platforms, with the size of Taiwan's market, is almost impossible.

In the most difficult days, Xu Tao visited and investigated door to door in Beijing's major business circles every day, and the company's core team delivered express delivery part-time during the day and studied products together at night. At the end of 2019, the company successfully obtained angel investment.

During the COVID-19 epidemic, Xu Tao was the first to receive the mainland's COVID-19 vaccine, and the company also received help from the mainland's economic recovery policy. In the past year, "Small Packages of Smart Workers" have helped more than 5,000 enterprises in Beijing resume work and production, and helped more than 30,000 unemployed people find jobs. Today, the company's business is growing at a monthly rate of 30%, and it has recently received a new round of strategic investment.

"If you don't cross this bay strait, you never know how big the world is." Xu Tao said that what young people in Taiwan need is not to play waste, not to lie flat, but to have a big enough stage to change their destiny. "Here, dreams can really come true."

"Marxist Researcher" Lin Zheyuan: "Inheriting the Glorious Tradition of Taiwanese Youth"

"Why do Taiwanese study Marxism?" Every time Lin Zheyuan introduced himself, he would be asked this question.

Lin Zheyuan, from Taiwan, received his Ph.D. in philosophy from Nanjing University in 2012 and is now a teacher at the School of Communication at East China Normal University.

At the Straits Forum meeting, Lin Zheyuan shared the process of changing from "Taiwanese students" to "Taiwan teachers" under the title of "Inheriting the Glorious Tradition of Taiwan Youth, Understanding the Motherland, and Knowing Ourselves," and even more shared the harvest of studying Marxism.

Lin Zheyuan said: In the course of the arduous struggle for national independence and people's liberation over the past hundred years, groups of patriotic and progressive young people have stepped forward and stood up to fight, including young people in Taiwan who have struggled and sacrificed.

Wu Sihan, Zhong Haodong, Chen Yingzhen... Lin Zheyuan is very fond of the deeds of Taiwan's patriots. He said: Their ideals are the complete reunification of the two sides of the strait and the complete liberation of the Taiwan people, and they represent the glorious tradition of Taiwan's youth in pursuing progress.

Lin Zheyuan said: This summer, dozens of Taiwan teachers and Students from many colleges and universities on the mainland went to Ludian County, Zhaotong City, Yunnan Province, to conduct in-depth investigations. They visited the reconstruction community of the households affected by the Ludian earthquake, the pepper garden of the Ludian poverty alleviation industry, and walked into the relocation and resettlement community of poverty alleviation in Oujiawan. "The true story of the frontline of the battle against poverty has touched the youth of Taiwan."

This Taiwanese teacher hopes that more young People in Taiwan who are studying, working and living on the mainland will get rid of the "being a guest" mentality, care about politics and society, and spread more true and objective mainland conditions back to Taiwan. "We must protect the peace and stability of the two sides of the strait and the common home of compatriots on both sides of the strait as we protect our own eyes, resolutely oppose interference by foreign forces, and resolutely oppose 'Taiwan independence.'"

"Fujian son-in-law" Chen Bairui: two "curve overtaking" in life

In 2002, Chen Bairui, a young man from Miaoli, Taiwan, chose to come to the mainland to study, but he did not expect to stay for nearly 20 years and was no longer willing to leave. Today, he is a deputy chief physician of Fuzhou Skin Disease Prevention and Treatment Hospital. In the mainland, he achieved two "curve overtaking" on the road of life, harvested love marriage and career development, and had a happy life.

At the age of 17, Chen Bairui, under the sustenance of his father's feelings for the motherland, applied for the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan joint recruitment and was successfully admitted to Peking University.

At Peking University, Chen Bairui found that no matter how hard you study, there will be students next to you who are harder and better than you. However, he was not discouraged, because his grandmother told him: "If you can't read a female classmate, then marry her home." ”

Chen Bairui settled in Fuzhou with Zhang Jinyan, a "scholar bully" in Peking University, and married his wife and settled in Fuzhou.

In 2009, Fujian took the lead in opening up public institutions in the mainland to recruit Taiwan graduates. In the summer of the following year, Chen Bairui became the first Taiwan compatriot with a postgraduate degree hired by a public institution in Fuzhou City, and enjoyed the same treatment as mainland workers such as bonuses, treatment, and promotions.

In the mainland, Chen Bairui's career is getting better and better: he was admitted to the doctoral program of Tongji University in Shanghai and successfully graduated, leading the establishment of the "Skin Imaging Collection Room" in the hospital, representing Chinese scientists to Participate in a world-class dermatology conference in Italy.

He was glad to seize the opportunity in the best of times, to become one of the thousands of builders on the mainland of the motherland, to witness the rapid development and infinite possibilities of this land. "I have given mainland identity cards to both of my children because we support and look forward to the early peaceful reunification of the two sides of the strait." (End)
