The tide of the Qiantang River comes with mud and sand
Every year, during the best viewing period of the Qiantang River tide, Zhijiang Road is always bustling and crowded with citizens and tourists who come to watch the tide.
In addition to bringing a spectacular scene, the tide also wrapped a lot of silt, sand and gravel, and poured into the drainage pipe connecting Zhijiang Road and Qiantang River.
The situation of pipe network maintenance is grim
According to the annual maintenance plan, when the Qiantang River is low in winter, the staff of the Urban Management and Security Center will dredge the rainwater pipes on Zhijiang Road.
Through instrument testing, the staff found that the siltation of three 1,000 mm rainwater pipes on the side of the river side of Zhijiang Road was more severe, and the drainage pipes of about 2.5 kilometers on both sides of the road section were also filled with many bricks, rubble and sediment.
The Chinese side showed courage and perseverance in difficulties
Due to the narrowness of the pipeline, it is impossible to mechanically remove the silt and can only be carried out manually. In November, the temperature has dropped, the staff put waterproof pants, hard hats, head lamps, life jackets and other equipment on their bodies, as soon as they drill into the pipeline, their feet will sink into the river, and they will soon feel the bone-chilling cold, and the resistance of the water will make it more difficult to walk.
"As we walked, we cleaned up the silt and debris in the pipeline, shoveled it up with a shovel and bagged it, transported it to the mouth of the pipe, and then carried it up by the people on it, and all these stones and bricks need to be cleared and pulled out by manpower little by little..." Said Master Song, a staff member.
Dare to take responsibility in the face of challenges
In addition to the silt and sand that is relatively easy to clean, there are hundreds of kilograms of stones in the pipe, which require the joint efforts of four or five people to lift. "Although it is not easy, it is still quite rewarding to watch the pipeline go from blockage to dredging a little bit!" The staff gasped, the beads of sweat on their faces shining so brightly in the sunlight. At the mouth of the pipe are their "booty" – large and small stones.
As of December 7, the operation lasted two weeks. The stones and silt removed from the pipes have reached about 50 cubic meters.
Scenic spot protection is incumbent upon
