Soon after, The Uncle Duan saw that Duke Zhuang did not take any measures against himself, and his boldness grew, not only taking the Western and Northern Provinces as his own fiefs, but also expanding his territory to Liaoyan. Gongzi Lü also said, "Great King, we can do it, but when his power is greater and he wins the hearts and minds of the people, there will be no way to deal with it." Zhuang Gong was still not ready to act, so he said: "The unrighteous man cannot recruit loyal soldiers, and the greater his power expands, the faster he will collapse." ”

At this time, there was a man named Uncle Yingkao, who was a frontier guard. After he heard about this, he took the initiative to present some gifts to Zhuang Gong, who, in order to express his gratitude, set up a banquet to entertain him. While eating, Uncle Yingkao left the meat behind and did not eat it. Zhuang Gong looked very puzzled and asked, "Why don't you eat meat?" Don't like to eat? Uncle Yingkao said, "My mother has eaten all the food that I have honored her, but she has not eaten the meat that the king himself rewarded, and I beg the king to let me bring this meat back to honor her old man's house, okay?" ”
After hearing this, Zhuang Gong said with emotion: "You have a mother who can be filial piety, but I don't!" Uncle Yingkao asked the reason and replied, "Great King, you don't actually have to worry." If you could dig the ground and see the spring, open a tunnel, and meet your mother in the tunnel, who would say you were a gaffe under the heavens? ”

Zuo Qiuming criticized Duke Zhuang for not fulfilling his responsibility to teach his brother, but in my opinion, his brother's ambition to become a monarch could not be corrected by education alone.
