Spring and Autumn 295 (25) Qi Xianggong was killed for not abiding by the agreement to give us what enlightenment

author:King Zhao ZW

In the summer of 686 BC, the Duke of Qi Xiang and the Duke of Lu zhuang joined forces to besiege the state of Qi, which was close to the north of the state of Lu, but unexpectedly, the state of Qi unilaterally surrendered to the state of Qi.

The two countries fought together against the State of Qi, and the State of Qi actually threw off the State of Lu and accepted the surrender of the State of Lu alone, and the whole state of Lu unanimously agreed that Qi Xianggong had done an improper job in this matter. Because of this, Duke Luzhuang's younger brother Zhongqing Father (fu3) instigated Duke Luzhuang to attack the Qi army and give Qi Xianggong some color to see. However, Lu Zhuanggong believed that the reason why He Guo chose to surrender to Qi Xianggong instead of himself showed that he himself had no morality and had nothing to do with Qi Xianggong, and Lu Zhuanggong said that he should first go back to Xiude for the future. As a result, this battle did not start, and in the autumn of that year, The Duke of Qi Xiang and the Duke of Luzhuang each led their armies back to their own countries.

However, not long after Duke Xiang of Qi returned to the State of Qi, one day in November of that year, he was killed by his cousin Gongsun Ignorance. At this point, one of the most famous dramas in the history of the State of Qi began.

This drama, which will be repeatedly mentioned and discussed by posterity, began with the dissatisfaction of Qi Guofu Lian and Guan Zhifu (fu3) against Xianggong.

Why would these two people be dissatisfied with Xianggong? This started in July of the previous year.

In July of the previous year, in July 687 BC, Duke Xiang of Qi sent Lian Zhi and Guan Zhi to defend KuiQiu, located southwest of the State of Lu. Before leaving, Qi Xianggong promised the two of them—just one year, and at this time next year, I would send someone to replace you two and exchange you both back. When Qi Xianggong sent them to Kuiqiu, it was the season when the melons were ripe and eaten in July, so Qi Xianggong swore an oath to Lian Zhi and Guan Zhi's father that when the melon season arrived next year, I would send someone to come. As a result, when the one-year period came, Qi Xianggong did not keep his promise, and even said that he and Guan Zhi's father waited while eating melons in Kuiqiu, waiting for their necks to grow, and they could not wait for Qi Xianggong to send someone to replace them back.

The ancients took Rannuo very seriously, and Qi Xianggong himself made a promise to his courtiers, but he could not keep it and honor it, which was a big taboo for ordinary gentlemen, not to mention that he was still the king of a country. Therefore, Lian Zhi and Guan Zhi's father became resentful of Xianggong, and this resentment gradually went deeper and deeper with the gradual fading of the melon eating season, and later, the two had the idea of killing Qi Xianggong, a dishonest guy.

But after all, Qi Xianggong is the king of a country, not to say that he can be killed by killing, there must be a reason to kill him, otherwise the subject will kill the king, after killing Qi Xianggong, they will not be able to run. That is to say, we must pave the way back for ourselves, find someone who can carry the matter of killing the king for them, and then set up a new king, and then we can start to kill the king. But who can carry such a big thing for them? Thinking about it, these two people hit the idea on Qi Xianggong's cousin, Gongsun Ignorant.

Why choose him?

Because Gongsun Ignorance was the son of Yi Zhongnian, the half-brother of Duke Qi, when Duke Qi was alive, he liked Gongsun Ignorance very much. To what extent did Duke Qi like Gongsun's ignorance? Let's put it this way, since Gongsun Was ignorant when he was a child, Qi Gonggong treated him like his own son, and Gongsun Ignorant's usual eating and wearing, including the level of treatment, was distributed in the same way as Qi Gong's own concubine. That is to say, from the time when Qi Xianggong was still a prince and a prince, Qi Xianggong always had such an eye-catching cousin around him--Gongsun was ignorant, and usually big things and small things were on an equal footing with his prince, and everything was not bad. Don't say that Gongsun Ignorance is just the brother of Qi Xianggong's party, he is holding the favor of Qi Xianggong and sitting on an equal footing with Qi Xianggong, that is, Qi Xianggong's own brother is like this, and the domineering Qi Xianggong can't stand it. Therefore, from childhood to adulthood, the existence of Gongsun's ignorance has always hindered Qi Xianggong's eyes, and even a thorn in Qi Xianggong's heart. Therefore, after Duke Xiang of Qi ascended the throne, he sent Gongsun Ignorant, a cousin who had always been favored by his father, Duke Qi, who was treated the same and sat on an equal footing with himself, far away to Yongliu, and was not bothered to see it. There was such a contradiction between Duke Xianggong of Qi and Gongsun Ignorance, which must not be a secret in the State of Qi, so Lian Zhi and Guan Zhi Father thought of Gongsun Ignorance and thought that they were just using the contradiction between the two of them for their own use, so Gongsun Ignorance became their best candidate.

Lian Zhi and Guan Zhi's father approached Gongsun Ignorance and said that he was going to kill Qi Xianggong and make him the monarch of the State of Qi, but Gongsun Ignorant listened to it and asked for it. Ever since Duke Xiang of Qi ascended the throne and threw him out of the country to the ruined place of Yongliu, Gongsun's ignorance had been depressed, and for a long time, his depression had turned into resentment towards Duke Xianggong. However, Qi Xianggong was overbearing and strong, so although Gongsun Ignorance had always held a grudge in his heart, he had always had no way to retaliate, who knew that God had eyes, and finally let him find the opportunity to find the door after twelve years of bitterness -- even saying that he and Guan Zhi's father wanted to help him kill Qi Xianggong, a dezhi villain, Gongsun ignorantly had the reason not to seize this opportunity that was difficult to find with a lantern!

In order to lock up the alliance, Gongsun ignorantly made a promise to Lian Zhi - after the matter was completed, let Lian Wei's sister be his wife. The reason why Gongsun Ignorant made such a promise was, on the one hand, to bind his relationship with Lian Wei, and on the other hand, to value that Lian Wei's sister was a concubine in the Qi Xiang Gong Palace and was an unfavored concubine. Gongsun ignorantly believed that with Lian's sister, the news in the palace would also be settled. In this way, the alliance between the two sides has been determined, and they can wait for an opportunity to kill Qi Xianggong and each of them is satisfied.

The opportunity has finally arrived!

On this day, Qi Xianggong, who was bored in winter, led his entourage to Gu Di to play and relax. At that time, there were relatively few entertainment projects, and archery and hunting were more common entertainment. Therefore, in the big winter, it was difficult to go out once, and there was always a hunt, so Qi Xianggong and his party came to Beiqiu to hunt again.

While the archery was on its head, suddenly a large wild boar appeared in the distance. Xu was too far away to see the real thing, and then there were people accompanying him pointing to the wild boar in the distance and saying to Xianggong - Look, that's Gongzi Pengsheng!

In that year, after Qi Xianggong sent his son Peng Sheng to kill Duke Lu Huan, in order to explain to Lu Guo, Qi Xianggong had already killed his son Peng Sheng. If you count the fingers, it was already eight years ago, which means that Gongzi Pengsheng had been dead for eight years. Therefore, when he heard the people below pointing to the wild boar in the distance and saying that it was Gongzi Pengsheng, Qi Xianggong was very angry, so he took an arrow and shot at the wild boar. Unexpectedly, after the wild boar was hit by an arrow, it actually stood up like a human and howled loudly at Qi Xianggong's side. This frightened Qi Xianggong not lightly, and the frightened Qi Xianggong fell off the car at once and injured his foot.

When such a thing happened, the safari was stopped. The retinue helped Qi Xianggong up, got back into the car, and then ordered him to go back to the palace. After Qi Xianggong's horror slowly settled down, he found that the shoes he had originally worn on his feet did not know when they were gone. After returning to the palace, Qi Xianggong asked a eunuch named Fei who went out with him for shoes—he thought that the shoes had been stolen by Fei. However, Fei insisted that he had not seen Qi Xianggong's shoes. Qi Xianggong was injured, he was angry, and his shoes were missing, so he felt that he must be hard to admit it, so he ordered people to beat Fei Three Hundred Whips fiercely. But Rao fei was beaten to the ground and bleeding, and Qi Xianggong could not ask where his shoes were. After the gas was out, Qi Xianggong asked someone to let the fee go.

Qi Xianggong's side was still looking for shoes in the palace to beat people, and the news that he returned to the palace after he went out of the palace to hunt and was injured was sent out of the palace. Lian Zhi, Guan Father Zhi, and Gongsun ignorantly learned that Qi Xianggong was injured when he went out hunting, and the people had returned to the palace, and the three of them felt that the opportunity could not be lost, and immediately decided to lead their men to attack Qi Xianggong. When all was said and done, the gang gathered armed forces, and the crowd soon arrived outside the palace gate, and at the same time, the eunuch Fei, who had just finished beating, walked out of the palace gate sooner or later.

When these people saw Fei, they recognized that Fei was a person close to Qi Xianggong, so they kidnapped him and tied him up with a rope. Although Fei was tied up, he saw that this gang was holding weapons in their hands, and he heard this gang clamoring to enter the palace to kill Qi Xianggong, and hurriedly said to them--Don't go in first, in case you hit the grass and startle the snake, it will be difficult to deal with, so it is better for me to go first for you to see the movement.

Fei was a man close to Qi Xianggong, so how could they easily believe what he said? In order to gain the trust of Lian Zhi and the others, Fei asked them to take off his clothes, show them the wounds on his back, tell them that he had just been beaten by Qi Xianggong, and then said to them, In fact, you don't need to tie me up at all, I will not resist, why should I resist? Seeing that Fei was beaten by Qi Xianggong, lian Wei and Gongsun were ignorant and they believed what Fei said, so they loosened Fei's ties and then let him go into the palace to spy on the situation.

After Fei regained his freedom, he hurried into the palace, and after entering the palace, he rushed to see Qi Xianggong and reported to Qi Xianggong the news that Lian Zhi and Gongsun were ignorant of their gang and that they were about to enter the palace to kill him. Xu was in a really urgent situation, and Qi Xianggong had no other way but to let Fei hide him behind a hidden door. Then, Fei organized a group of eunuchs in the palace who usually won the favor of Qi Xianggong, and after making some arrangements, he led people to ambush them in advance, planning to snipe the rebels who would rush into the palace later to kill Qi Xianggong.

Lian Zhi, Gongsun Ignorant and others waited outside the palace for a long time, but they did not see any movement, and they were afraid that the matter would be exposed, so they hurriedly led people into the palace. When they came to the place where Fei and the other eunuchs were ambushed, Fei and his colleagues rushed out and fought with Lian Zhiyi and others. Even said that these people were going to enter the palace to kill the king, so presumably they were all strong and strong, and these eunuchs were the enemies of these warriors, so the fight ended quickly, the eunuchs were killed, Fei died at the door, and another close eunuch Shi Zhiru, who was close to Qi Xianggong, died under the steps.

After killing these eunuchs who came out to block them, lian said that a group of people went to the palace to look for Qi Xianggong but never found it, so they broke into Qi Xianggong's palace. Seeing someone on the bed, the gang killed the person in the bed without saying a word. After killing the person, he looked carefully, and it was not Qi Xianggong who died but the eunuch Meng Yang. The crowd was fretting about killing the wrong person, and at this moment, someone suddenly saw two feet exposed under a door, opened the door and looked, the person hiding behind the door was no one else, it was Qi Xianggong they had been looking for, so without saying a word, they killed Qi Xianggong on the spot.

After the death of Duke Xiang of Qi, Lian Zhi supported Gongsun Ignorance according to the original plan.

Chaos and chaos arose, and ignorant people ascended to the throne, and many gongsuns and princes of the State of Qi fled to save their lives. Among them, there are two famous ones, one is Qi Xianggong's younger brother Gongzi Xiaobai, and the other is Qi Xianggong's younger brother Gongzi Gui. Of these two, Xiao Bai fled south to Juguo under the protection of The Great Doctor Bao Shuya, and Gongzi Gui was protected by the Doctor Guan Zhonghe and Zhao Kuo, and fled east to Gongzi Gui's home country, the State of Lu.

Ignorance and others killed Duke Xiang of Qi, but before Ignorance could sit on the throne of the State of Qi, ignorance was killed by the Yongli people in the spring of the new year (685 BC).

The Yongmiao people kill ignorance for a simple reason. Ignorance used to do something very bad for the Yongmiao people. As for what ignorance did to the Yongliu people before, the history books do not record nothing, so we only know that in the spring of 685 BC, the ignorance went on a trip to the Yongliu, and the Yongliu people organized a sneak attack on the ignorance and gave the ignorance a click in the Yongliu.

Ignorance and Qi Xianggong are both dead, and then we talk about Qi Xianggong as a person.

After the death of Duke Qi, Duke Xiang of Qi ascended the throne, twelve years from the time he ascended the throne until he was killed. What great things did he do in twelve years? I am afraid that the biggest event is the fraudulent killing of Lu Huangong, and the fraudulent killing of Lu Huangong is related to his adultery with his sister Wen Jiang; then there is the booby-trapping and killing of Zheng Guozi. The State of Lu and the State of Zheng were not small states at that time, but the Duke of Qi Xiang single-handedly killed the monarchs of the two larger princely states in the world, and his willfulness, domineering, and disregard were evident. As for his adultery with his own sister Wen Jiang, it opened a "new chapter" of incest in Chinese history, like Lu Huigong and Wei Xuangong robbed their daughter-in-law at best, noting that it was "quasi", Zhongzi and Xuanjiang had not really married Lu Yingong and Gongzi Ling at that time; of course, Wei Xuangong was worse, in addition to robbing his son's wife-to-be, he also burned Yi Jiang, and his own mother-in-law incest and gave birth to a child, but after all, Yi Jiang and he had no blood relationship, this kind of incest between father and son, this kind of incest between father and son, No matter how bad it was, it was no worse than qi xianggong and his own sister Wen Jiang incest.

After the death of Duke Huan of Lu, Wen Jiang lived in the State of Qi for a long time, and although he did not settle in the capital, in the eight years before The Killing of Duke Xiang of Qi, the two brothers and sisters have since seen as many as five "private meetings" in the history books. Speaking of private meetings, in fact, they are all polite, these two brothers and sisters are simply blatantly and honestly adulterous, this matter was a well-known scandal at that time, and the people of the Country of Qi even made three poems to satirize their brothers and sisters for incest.

The first is the "Book of Poetry • Qi Feng • Zai Drive" - our basket is in Liang, its fish bream, Qi Zi returns, its from Ruyun; Our Basket is in Liang, its fish Bream, Qi Zi returns, its from like rain; Our Basket is in Liang, its fish is only wei, Qi Zi returns, and its from water. This poem writes about The scene of Jiang Returning to the Qi State and passing through the market, satirizing Lu Huangong's incompetence and the ability to discipline Wen Jiang who does not abide by the law of etiquette, allowing her to continue the incest of her brothers and sisters after marriage.

The second poem is "Poetry Classic• Qi Feng • Nanshan" - Nanshan Cui Cui, XiongHu Sui Sui, Lu Dao Youdao, Qi Zi Yougui. Both the end of the destination, the end of the twilight and the end of the nostalgia? Ge Di Five Two, Crown And Silk Double Stop, Lu Dao Youdao, Qi Zi Yong Stop, both Yong Stop, Yu and From Stop? What about art hemp? Weigh from its acres. What about marrying a wife? Parents must be told. Both stop and bow? What about salary analysis? Bandit axe is not grams. What about marrying a wife? Bandits are not allowed. Both stop and stop? This song sarcastically questioned Qi Xianggong, Wen Jiang and Lu Huan Gong, and the common people could not think of such a thing, and when the gentleman's wife actually did it.

The third poem is "The Book of Poetry • Qi Feng • Zai Drive" - Carrying thin driving, Mu Mo Zhu Yun, Lu Dao You Dang, Qi Zi Fa Xi; Si Li Ji Ji, Chu Yuan Shu Shu, Lu Dao You Dang, Qi Zi Yi Di; Wen Shui Tang, Pedestrian Peng Peng, Lu Dao You Dang, Qi Zi Soaring; Wen Shui Gushing, Pedestrians You Dang, Lu Dao You Dang, Qi Zi You Ao. The official road of the State of Lu was full of people, Wen Jiang rode in a high-headed horse-drawn carriage, and the pedestrians on the road, everyone knew that she was going to meet with her brother Qi Xianggong for adultery, but she was on her toes, and she didn't care about people's discussions and guidance at all, and she did whatever she wanted.

It is such a domineering and shameless person, who finally died at the hands of his own courtiers, lianzhi, guan zhi and his own cousin, because he did not pay attention to credit, and if we understand it according to the thinking path of ordinary people, we should and blame ourselves, it should be the rebellion of the people. However, you see that when Lian Zhi and others rebelled and wanted to kill him, the eunuch Fei, who had just been whipped by him, was still willing to defend him and die for him. This is true not only for eunuchs, but also for Shi Zhiru and Meng Yang. And how to see the loyalty of these recent people to Xianggong? I think that people who are close to him, especially the eunuch Fei who has just been whipped by Qi Xianggong, can defend him so much, which more or less shows that Qi Xiang may be fair to these people who are close to him. From a moral and ethical point of view, Qi Xianggong was obviously a personal scum, but after his death, the Qi people gave him the title of "Xiang" - what is Xiangye? "There is virtue in the land" and "there is a labor in the armor", you see, the stain of private morality did not affect the Qi people's judgment on his final coffin. You may want to say that it is because they did not dare to give him a bad name, which is strange to say, the alternative words for the name are a lot of words that criticize him, what Zhuang, Huang, Li, ugly, You, Jiao, Miao... In history, there are many emperors who have been given these nicknames, so how dare the Qi people not dare to give Qi Xianggong a bad name. In the final analysis, in the history of the State of Qi, in the eyes of the people of the State of Qi, although there are losses in private morality, they are still flawed. The evaluation of an emperor is more, mainly based on his ability to govern the country and expand the frontier, and the rest is almost all floating clouds. People today may think that this value is a bit crooked, but the reality is that way. Under his leadership, the territory of the State of Qi was getting bigger, the status of the State of Qi among the princes was improved, and the Duke of Qi Established a certain prestige for the State of Qi through force, and continued the Qi State of Qi's transportation to his hands, and carried it forward.
