In order to promote the inheritance of intangible cultural heritage, strengthen neighborhood interaction, and create a civilized and warm harmonious community, the Baoshan Songnan Ten Villages Neighborhood Committee recently organized the "Dingsheng Cake" production activity. The members of the Dad's Council brought more than 20 children and volunteers from the greening group to the event.
"Dingsheng cake" means auspicious, containing the meaning of living and working in peace and contentment, rejoicing in the world, so whenever there is a happy event such as birthday celebration, house building and housewarming, it is generally necessary to spare this cake, which has been passed down to this day.
Many residents of Songnan Ten Villages in Baoshan are neighbors who have known each other for decades and have a tradition of making "Dingsheng Cake". Once the event was promoted, friends large and small were full of interest in the making of this traditional pastry.
Early in the morning, the activity room was busy. With the help of the adults, the prepared glutinous rice flour, japonica rice flour, sugar and other materials were mixed, sieved, and awakened for preliminary treatment. Subsequently, the rice noodles and bean paste are put into the "Dingsheng Cake" model, the surface is scraped flat with a knife, and the basket is steamed with high heat until the cake noodles are matured and fixed, and then the buckle is taken out, and the "Dingsheng Cake" in the shape of plum blossoms is smoothly baked.
The children cheered at the moment they saw the pastries coming out, and couldn't wait to pick up their booty, "Ah-hoo" and stuffed it into their mouths, full of soft glutinous sweetness, and they were happy.
While experiencing the traditional pastry making craftsmanship, everyone also fully enjoyed the warm time of parent-child interaction and fun with young and old.
