Freelancer Sports Liverpool beat Southampton 4-0

At Anfield on Saturday, Diogo Horta scored the fastest goal of the 2021-22 Premier League to help Liverpool beat Southampton 4-0.

The Portugal international scored in just 97 seconds and he scored another goal later in the first half. Thiago Alcantara and Virgil van Dijk also scored goals in this victory.

The victory means Liverpool will continue to put pressure on Chelsea – which will face Manchester United on Sunday – to top the table.

"In the end, it was a good game for us. We adapted well to their three defenders. In the second half they changed again. We take advantage of. There were slots in the first half. Also didn't concede a goal, so it was good. Jota said after the game.

Mohammed Salah scored his second goal for Hotta by kicking a cross from the Egyptian international into the net in the 32nd minute.

Salah's assists mean he has scored 25 goals straight in all competitions this season, more than double that of other Premier League players.

Five minutes later, Thiago scored his third goal for Liverpool. Southampton appeared to have steered the line off the danger, but Thiago scored the ball into the net for the first time.

Van Dijk scored near the penalty spot in the 52nd minute, his first goal in 14 months.
