"The people are tea-making, haggard and yellow, a hundred-year-old life, a seven-foot body, tired and urgent, the sun is seen and damaged, its god is not filled, and its karma is not open." In the past, the water was in the middle of winter, and the heat was scorching, although it would be unbearable and painful. However, if the ability is not given, and the autumn is first withered, then it will be breathless, the day and the disease, and the peace can be ten years of gathering, ten years of lessons, twenty years and cure all Of Wu Zhao? Fang is now anxious to cross the country, our people's physical strength is far inferior, they want to survive in the memorial century, the stage of fierce competition, no shame on the Emperor Shennong, all the kings I have a remedy?"

In 1915, in the speech of the graduation class of the Changsha Zhounan Girls' School of Music and Body, Xiang Jianyu, who was 20 years old, used a passionate statement to encourage students majoring in music and body that in order to revitalize China and avenge the shame of snow, it is necessary to promote physical exercise and make the broad masses have a strong physique.

At this time, there are still 7 years before Comrade Xiang Jianyu joined the Communist Party of China and became an important leader in the early days of our party. But the revolutionary road and the practice of promoting sports have begun.

According to the "Biography to the Police", when Xiang Police was studying, "due to hard work, excessive fatigue, often felt dizzy, brain failure and depression." But she never holds the illness and lies in bed, living by guarding the medicine stove, but actively exercising and cultivating a sound physique. Every day at dawn, she gets up to participate in sports activities, and she also meets more than two dozen classmates, often practicing boxing on campus. ”

From 1916 to 1918, Xiang Jingyu ran a school in Pupu. During this period, she attached great importance to the physical exercise of her students. Every morning, Xiang Jingyu would lead the students to the river to do morning exercises. She also specially invited a full-time teacher graduated from Changsha to strengthen the development of physical education classes in schools. At that time, the curriculum was quite rich, in addition to athletics, gymnastics, ball, there were also a variety of light equipment exercises, games, dance. In 1918, Xiang Also organized a school-wide sports meeting.

Xiang Jingyu and Cai Hesen are famous "red lovers" and "revolutionary partners". Comrade Cai Hesen is also a loyal sports enthusiast. In 1913, Cai he and Sen were admitted to the Hunan First Normal School, and during their studies, they became like-minded friends with Comrade Mao Zedong. At that time, Mr. Yang Changji, who taught at the First Normal School, encouraged them with eight words: "not to die, to seek oneself, to make great progress, and to persevere", of which "not to die" means to exercise and maintain health. Progressive young people such as Mao Zedong, Cai and Sen were deeply educated, and they understood that in order to save the country and the people, they must have a strong body. Since then, Mao Zedong, Cai and Sen have often teamed up to swim in the Xiang River, go to Yuelu Mountain to climb mountains, and have sunbathing, cold bathing and other exercises.

In December 1919, Cai Hesen, Xiang Jingyu and others went to France for work-study. After more than a month of bumpy travel, Cai and Sen had a recurrence of asthma and were forced to postpone school. But he did not passively recuperate, but insisted on exercising while self-studying, and finally recovered his health. The translation of the Communist Manifesto was completed by Comrade Cai Hesen in the process of rehabilitation.

Cai and Sen's love of sports was also influenced by his sister Cai Chang. As an outstanding leader of China's women's movement, Cai Chang studied gymnastics and music at Zhounan Girls' School, and after graduation, he stayed in the school as a physical education teacher until 1919, when he went to France to work and study. According to the historical records of Zhounan Middle School, Cai Chang linked sports to the rise and fall of the world during his teaching period, teaching students that "non-martial arts are not enough to strive for self-improvement."
