Li Li, a special teacher in Shaanxi Province, is the host of The Geography Li Li "Famous Teacher +" Training Community in Xi'an High School. He is currently working in the Teaching and Research Office of Yanliang District, Xi'an City, as a middle school geography teacher and researcher.
One day in September 2020, I saw a children's theme novel mailed by a friend, and was immediately attracted by the sleigh pulled by the children on the cover, a feeling of déjà vu made me feel very kind, and to read the whole book, a warm and beautiful breath of life infected me, playing snowball, hide-and-seek, catching sparrows, pulling sleds, skating river ice This is clearly a portrayal of our childhood life, the little protagonist in the book is like himself at that time, living freely in the vast world.
Literature is higher than life, the life of children in novels is rich and interesting, but in reality, the life of rural children is another scene.
I remember talking about this topic with a primary school teacher who has been in the countryside for more than 30 years. The conscientious and responsible rural teacher said that today's rural children rarely gather to play games or play, because it is difficult for children to meet each other. He said that about 20 percent of the children in their schools go to the city to study; about 30 percent of the children are parents (mostly grandparents and maternal grandparents) who take them home to help complete their homework; about 30 percent of the children complete their homework in off-campus care classes; about 5 percent of the children study at school; and about 15 percent of the children are sent to the city by their parents to attend interest classes after school.
Children spend their spare time studying and completing extracurricular assignments, and primary school students are rarely seen in rural areas. The observant and thoughtful teacher said that for decades, he only saw 4 or 5 children playing together in a relatively remote village before the Spring Festival of one year, which was a very rare sight.
Talking about this phenomenon, the teacher said one thing emotionally: there is a small village near the school, there used to be seventeen or eighteen families, now there are only a few families, in the late 80s and early 90s, he went to the village, he could still see the children in the village together, and then there were fewer and fewer children in the village, in recent years, because of home visits he has been to this village several times, the streets can not see a few children, young people under the age of 40 can hardly see one, this scene makes him sad and even shed tears. Society is made up of people, the village is a small society, a small society without teenagers, its desolation is unspeakable, and its future is even more worrying.
There is another aspect of his concern: most of the primary school students in rural schools are cared for by grandparents and maternal grandparents, and there are many problems with children: selfishness and difficulty in discipline. Because the parents of children do not participate in the child's parenting process, the family concept is weak, the divorce rate is very high, and the divorce rate of parents of students from the first grade to the sixth grade of primary school shows an increasing trend, which adds difficulty to the education of these families' children.
Although rural children are in the vast world, they have lost their freedom and childlike fun, and most of them are arranged by parents in various study classes, and some parents rarely think and ask about the effectiveness.
It has to be said that this atmosphere is caused by the social environment, and it is the city that drives the countryside.
In recent years, the learning status of urban children has become even more worrying.
A child from the preschool class, on the beginning of a variety of out-of-school tutoring classes, and after school, a variety of cultural class cram classes occupy all of the child's spare time, in addition to school learning, after-school heavy homework and various types of training classes squeeze the child's spare time to zero.
A few days ago, I saw a new semester plan written by my niece in the third year of junior high school, the font is neat like a printed body, and the following is a group of anime character illustrations drawn by myself.

At first glance, I was very surprised, and soon an inexplicable heartache struck: I know that the child has practiced words to this extent, how much kung fu she has privately used, how much spare time she has sacrificed, and only then has she practiced this kind of "calligraphy" like a machine printout! And this is just one of the four or five "skills" she has learned in the past nine years, and it is also a "skill" that she learned in addition to her heavy cultural studies.
In fact, among the current primary and secondary school students, there are many children with various "skills": more and more students who have reached professional standards in chess, piano, calligraphy and painting, but there are very few students who really choose the art path, and most of the students who choose to take art colleges are helpless moves under the hopelessness of entering famous schools, rather than because of interests and strengths. Most parents want their children to become adults in cultural classes, not in art. This choice is contrary to the initial hard work of allowing children to learn art, and it cannot but be said to be a tragedy.
I appreciate mr. Ye Shengtao's remark that "education is agriculture, not industry". Yes, education should be based on local conditions, free sowing, free growth of agricultural production, peasants planting crops, in accordance with its own characteristics and laws to guide it, conform to it, the students trained should also have their own strengths, each has its own talents, and should not be like the mold production in the factory, is a uniform industrial product.
While the personal potential of students in modern society has been exerted to a great extent, the quality of thought, labor skills and mental health have become shortcomings, and the spiritual world of students has become more and more desolate.
We expect this situation to improve, not to intensify. We call on not to squeeze children's time, but also to children with childlike fun, but also children with vitality, so that children can learn knowledge in a more relaxed environment, learn art under the guidance of interest, and master skills in the process of activities. Let the flower suitable for education be reflected in every student, and let the quality education of morality, intelligence, physical fitness and beauty be truly implemented in every student.
This year's "double reduction" policy has loosened the shackles for children and opened up a broader world for their future development, which is a timely rain, eliminating the worries of the old rural teacher who has the responsibility mentioned above, and also correcting some misunderstandings in compulsory education. It is believed that after the rain will be a sunny day, the children run farther under the clear sky and fly higher.
