Dong Biwu returned to his hometown of Hong'an for the second time, why did he repeatedly advise him

On March 10, 1958, Dong Lao and his wife He Lianzhi accompanied the Agricultural Inspection Group of the Hubei Provincial Party Committee to Hong'an inspection team and returned to Hong'an for the second time.

When he left from Wuhan, Elder Dong refused to take a small sleeping car and insisted on taking a big traffic bus with the comrades in the province, and Comrade Zhang Tixue repeatedly persuaded him to agree to sit in comrade Tixue's car.

When the car arrived in Gaoqiao District, Elder Dong first inspected the construction site of the Ma'anshan Reservoir. On this day, thousands of migrant workers were braving the spring cold to repair the Ma'anshan Reservoir, and when the migrant workers found that Elder Dong had come to the construction site, they suddenly boiled up, and the applause and cheers lasted for a long time. Elder Dong waved to the migrant workers and said loudly, "Hello folks! I extend my condolences to you and wish you an early repair of the reservoir!" Elder Dong's care gave great encouragement to the migrant workers, who said that they must complete the task in advance.

Leaving the Ma'anshan Reservoir, Elder Dong and his party came to Bali Bay, where he saw that the Bali Bay organs had installed electric lights, smiled, and said, "You are not bad here. Then ask, "Where does the electricity come from?" Comrade Pan Zhi, secretary of the general branch of the Bali Township Party, replied: "The year before, a small hydropower station was built at the pier of the Yi River, 12 miles away from here." Elder Dong also asked with concern, "How much electricity can be generated?" How much water flows, how much does it fall?" and other issues. He also instructed Comrade Pan Zhi: "You are a cadre working in the rural areas, you mainly engage in agriculture, you must understand the close relationship between hydropower and agriculture, and the close relationship with the masses, and you must become an expert cadre." In his inscription to Comrade Pan Zhi later, he particularly emphatically pointed out: "On the basis of becoming an expert in agriculture, he should study an industrial technology."

Elder Dong also visited the central market and the store department of the means of production in Bali Township, and inquired in detail about the situation of cooking oil, iodized salt, and agricultural tools that are closely related to the production and livelihood of the masses.

Elder Dong inspected Bali Bay for three hours. When eating lunch, he saw that the table was full of dishes and said unhappily: "When cadres take the lead in being diligent and thrifty, they must not be separated from the masses and engage in specialization." Comrade Zhang Tixue hastened to explain: "I ordered this meal today." Elder Dong said, "You did it, and it is not good to exceed the standard of food." He also once again urged cadres not to engage in specialization. Later, the food given to Elder Dong was always four dishes and one soup.

On the morning of the 11th, Elder Dong inspected the test field of Cheng Peng, secretary of the county party committee and technician Zhu Yihongzhong. Getting off the bus at the East Gate of Xinghua Township, Elder Dong walked to the head of the stone arch bridge and asked, "This is 'asking if there is a bridge', right?" yes. Guo Jitai, general secretary of the party branch of Xinghua Township, replied. Elder Dong saw that the grass seeds in the field were lush and lush, the rapeseed was golden, some of the members were accumulating and sending fertilizer, some were in the whole field in Pingtian, the spring breeze was blowing, laughing and talking, a busy scene, associated with the production plan reported by the county party committee, impromptu poems:

The Hong'an masses made advance plans and made clear plans. Secondary takes root deeply, blossoms and bears fruit into gold.

Elder Dong saw that the wheat seedlings in a field on the side of the road were particularly fat, so he crouched down and looked at the wheat seedlings and asked, "Why does this piece grow exceptionally well?" Because in winter there are piles of cow pen manure here. Guo Jitai replied. Hmmm!" Elder Dong nodded and said, "This is proof that every crop and a flower depends entirely on fat." Elder Dong climbed the small hill behind Hekan Village in one breath and encouraged everyone: "If you want to be poor, you will go to a higher level." Seeing Tian Chong on the edge of Hekan Village, there were four or five members of the community whipping cattle, so they asked: "Hekan this river, which has always been muddy and deep, and cold soaking, used to produce very low, but now it is still like that?" 」 Nope!" Guo Jitai replied, "Rice has reached five or six hundred catties for three consecutive years, double that before liberation. "How did you turn it up?" Elder Dong asked with great interest. Guo Jitai replied: "First, intensive cultivation; The second is to improve the soil. Elder Dong asked, "How can these fields be changed?" Treat them differently according to local conditions. Rush up to Sha Tin, come to a "Sha Tin mixed with soil and fat meat stew lotus"; Rush down is a rotten mud field, let's come to a mud field mixed with sand, white sugar sticky'. Guo Jitai smiled triumphantly, "Good, good!" Elder Dong was full of praise.

Further on, Elder Dong saw an old farmer ploughing in the field, he happily stepped forward, took the bull whip from the old farmer's hand, steadily supported the tail of the plough, "Oh" a sound, ploughed up the field, the old farmer Qin Bichuan hurriedly said: "Oh, Elder Dong, you are resting quickly!" Elder Dong asked: Is the seven-inch step plough good or not? How deep can you cultivate? What are the advantages over older plows? Old Qin Du replied. Subsequently, Elder Dong inspected Wufenggang. Praise said: "The five wildernesses have become five abundances," the mountains have changed into water and people, and the grain, oil, and grass have also become abundant."

In the afternoon, in Yejiafa Village, Wansheng Township, Elder Dong visited the experimental field planted by Xu Zhengxiu, a representative of the National Congress of Socialist Activists and a model worker in the county, and talked with her on his knees. Comrades told Elder Dong that Aunt Xu was a model for sending her son to join the army during the period of the democratic revolution, and now that she is more than seventy years old, she is still actively participating in socialist construction, and was awarded the glorious title of "Five Good Homes" by the county women's federation. Elder Dong happily praised Aunt Xu for "being old and red-hearted.". Immediate poem:

The world-famous Aunt Xu, who is dedicated to revolutionizing the world, can be boasted. The Women's Federation took him as its banner and tested the field and the five good homes.

In Weijiawan Village, a farm township, Elder Dong watched the farmers improve the soil in a large area, and was very interested to see two twelve- and thirteen-year-old children, bulldozing the soil with homemade carts, praising: "Well done, well done", and improvised a poem.

Elder Dong attaches great importance to the water conservancy construction in his hometown, and every time he goes to a water conservancy site, he must write inscriptions, inscriptions, or poems to congratulate and encourage the enthusiasm of the masses. On the morning of the 12th, Elder Dong inspected Huolianfa and said: "Hong'an is a mountainous area, the terrain is high and dry, and the famine years and droughts in history account for 89 out of 10, and the Hong'an people have been worried about the lack of water and grain for generations. Xiao Linshan, deputy county magistrate who accompanied him, interjected: "The county party committee has planned to build a reservoir here, and after the Yanbaodi Reservoir has an eyebrow, we will consider the issue of water conservancy construction in the entire eastern region." Then, Comrade Xiao Linshan gave a brief report to Elder Dong on the construction of the two major water systems in the east and west delineated by the Inverted Water River in the whole county. Elder Dong said, "This is good, I hope to see the fire even if it can be irrigated by its own flow."

With the encouragement and urging of Elder Dong, the Huolianba Reservoir was completed in 1959. When the news reached Beijing, Elder Dong was very happy, and his handwritten inscription "Huolianba Reservoir" was sent to the Hong'an County Cpc Committee with the letter.

On the afternoon of 12 July, Elder Dong inspected Qiliping, accompanied by Governor Zhang Tixue and Jiang Yi, secretary of the Huanggang Prefectural CPC Committee, and gave important instructions to the representatives of the Qiliping Martyrs' Army, district and township cadres, model workers, and more than 700 cadres from Hubei Province who were sent to the Tiantai Forestry Farm, calling on "everyone to use their brains to build the Soviet area even better." I heard that Wang Qiqin, a 72-year-old old Red Guard, has not been supported by the government for many years, feeds pigs and chickens, cultivates vegetables in the wilderness, and insists on participating in production, less than three months, doing more than two hundred work points, Dong Laolian claimed praise: "Not simple, not simple!" And give poetry to each other.

In Qiliping, Elder Dong walked through every street and alley, paying homage to martyrs, visiting the relics of the revolution, inspecting the newly built hospitals, schools, stations, department stores, and bookstores built after liberation... Looking back on the past, how many past events have come to mind. In the early morning of the 13th, he wrote a popular poem entitled "Hong'an Qiliping":

The remnants of the old battle still exist, and the name of the rebel base area is passed on. Today, construction can leap forward, worthy of the seven mile flat of that year.

On the morning of the 13th, Elder Dong came to the auditorium and made a report at the meeting of more than 2,000 cadres in the county, and all the cadres stood up and gave warm applause. In his speech, Elder Dong praised the people of Hong'an for their hard work in "building a socialist new mountain township and creating a new life of their own." He then expounded the situation at home and abroad, hoping that everyone would cherish the peaceful environment, work with the party with one heart and one mind, and make unremitting efforts and make contributions. We encourage everyone to carry forward the revolutionary tradition and strive for greater glory. After the meeting, Elder Dong and his party inspected the Martyrs' Shrine under construction.

In the afternoon, Elder Dong and his wife He Lianzhi, accompanied by county magistrate Ma Youcai, walked to Zhu Ge at the foot of Yuntai Mountain to visit their father and fellow villagers. In Zhu Ge, Dong Lao also tasted the mung bean dumplings made for them by the villagers.

During his stay in Hong'an, Elder Dong also visited the "Exhibition of Revolutionary Cultural Relics of Hong'an" held by the Cultural Center, and after his visit, he said with great emotion: "There is more than enough content, but the display is not bold enough." Asked about the preparation of the museum, Cheng Peng, secretary of the county party committee, said: "We have asked the Zhongnan Design Institute to carry out the design, and we are preparing materials and preparing for construction."

On the 14th, Elder Dong left Hong'an for Wuhan. Before leaving, the old man repeatedly instructed the county party committee cadres who had sent them off: We must carry forward the revolutionary tradition of Hong'an, promote the production of workers and peasants, and make the lives of the masses better.
