In Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon Hollywood, there was once a legend known as the "King of Hollywood", this man was clark Gable (February 1, 1901 – November 16, 1960).
American national treasure film actor, former male protagonist of "Gone with the Wind". In 1999, the American Film Institute selected him as the 7th greatest actor in a hundred years.
Clark Gable was born in Harrison County, Ohio, a descendant of German immigrants, and his mother died 7 months after birth.
Gable, 16, graduated from high school and began working in factories. After seeing a play that touched him very much, he decided to become an actor. He worked in several second-rate theater troupes and also worked part-time as a salesman.
In 1924, he was sponsored by the troupe's owner, Josephine Dillon, to go to Hollywood to seek development.
Between 1924 and 1926 he began his acting career as an extra in silent films, and in 1930 he starred in several more films for MGM and gradually became a supporting role.
The following year, he earned his first major role in Hollywood, and over the next 30 years, he starred in more than 60 films.
Dillon was ten years older than he was his agent and first wife. At first, Gable played only a few minor roles, then returned to the troupe, and it was not until 1930 that he signed a contract with MGM.
In the years that followed, he successfully starred in several productions, making him quickly the king of Hollywood.
Gable won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his 1934 Film One Night. However, his most famous role remains Barryd in the 1939 classic Gone with the Wind, which earned him an Oscar nomination for Best Actor.
Prior to this, he had received the same nomination for the 1935 renegade episode Of War.
Gable is also one of the few talented actors to appear in three Films that won the Academy Award for Best Picture.
In 1939, actress Carol Lombard became Gable's third wife, the love of Gable's life, and although Gable and Lombard were Republican and Democratic supporters, respectively, they maintained a happy marriage.
However, the good dreams did not last long, and his wife was killed in an air crash.
Gable was so devastated that he began serving in the U.S. Army Air Force as an observer and machine gunner for the B-17 bomber, and was awarded the Distinguished Cross in Flight, the Aviation Medal, and at least a colonel.
After World War II, his first film return was 1945's "Fury Sea", but this work was not successful, and MGM did not renew his contract due to his high salary.
Over the next decade, Gable made several films, but not to the level of his early years.
His second wife was Texas lady Mary Franklin, and the fourth was Mrs. Stanley, the widow of Sir Douglas Feerptux.
The fifth wife was Catherine Williams from Northeast Pennsylvania, a former fashion model who had been married three times. She bore Gable a widow in 1961, and he was Gable's only daughter-in-law.
Gable's last film was The Mandarin Duck, which was also the legacy of Marilyn Monroe.
Gable died of a myocardial infarction in Los Angeles in 1960 at the age of 59.
He is buried in a tree-lined memorial park in Golandre, California, next to his lifelong wife, Carol Lombard.
